So, in the news today I’m sure you heard that Bob “All my friends like Hillary but don’t you dare call me biased” Mueller had charges filed on thirteen Russian nationals and three Russian companies.
Already the New York Times (making up crap when the truth hurts since 1980) is saying this supports the ‘Russia Helped Trump Win’ theory.
All that shows is that the NYT staff has a real problem paying attention. From the press release read by Deputy AG Rosenstein:
“Defendants posted derogatory information about a number of candidates”
“They engaged in operations primarily intended to communicate derogatory information about Hillary Clinton, to denigrate other candidates such as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, and to support Bernie Sanders and then-candidate Donald Trump.”
There is also the message sent by DAG Rosenstein to Mueller in his statements:
“there is no allegation in this document that any American was a knowing participant in this illegal activity”
“There is no allegation in this indictment any American had any knowledge”
“there is no allegation” the Russians’ activity changed the outcome of the election.”
In other words, Rosenstein made clear that these indictments do not have anything to do with Trump, and they have no weight as evidence for collusion or any other crime by an American. CNN and NYT will deny this fact, but Rosenstein made it plain.
So OK. Bob “I’m with Her” Mueller is biased but surely he’s not an idiot, so what’s behind this move. What does Bob plan to do here? Essentially, I see two possibilities.
Path one is that Bob needs trophies, a win here and there. You may recall that up to now, Bob’s biggest ‘win’ was getting a guilty plea from Michael Flynn. You may or may not know that that ‘win’ is now in danger. The judge handling Flynn’s case has been removed, and the new judge (Sullivan) has issued an order to Robert Mueller demanding he hand over “any evidence in its possession that is favorable to defendant and material either to defendant’s guilt or punishment”
That’s very uncommon, and when a judge issues such an order it’s taken as a reprimand that the prosecutor failed to follow the law in his investigation. Mueller may well see that guilty plea be changed. Prosecutors like to have something to show for their work, and since pretty much everything up to now has been tainted by the misconduct of Strzok, Page, McCabe, Weissman, Zebley, Cooper, Rhee and Ohr, Battling Bob is trying real hard not to look like a famous Bob from the past:
So what if none of those thirteen Russians ever sees a US courtroom? A win’s a win, and right now Bob wants any of those he can get.
But there is another possibility to consider. Remember how Strzok and Page talked about an ‘insurance’ policy? Such things go into effect if the worst happens, and Trump taking office was the worst possibility Strzok and Page could imagine.
(although there are other bad things I see in their future)
Strzok and Page and the other clowns know very well that Trump did not collude with the Russians, and they know no one in Trump’s White House obstructed Justice (something which cannot be said for his predecessor) , so what if the clown squad joined Mueller’s team in order to harass and annoy Trump with endless investigations that go nowhere but never end? That fits everything we have seen up to now, and would be just what we should expect from an ego-driven inquisition by Bob Mueller.
