Iowa has been struggling for the first time in getting its famous straw poll underway this year. Few of the GOP candidates said they planned to attend it this year.
Finally, the Iowa GOP just decided to bag the whole thing.
This is a good thing, really. The Iowa straw poll was always a lose, lose for GOP candidates. They have a possibility to hurt themselves here but even winning it–after spending millions to do so–is never an indicator of front runner status.
So, this is a good thing. The Iowa straw poll was always a bad deal.
