Weekend Caption Contest™ Winners

This week’s Weekend Caption Contest™ was another smash hit. I know we’ve had an abundance of Obama pictures in the caption contest lately, but I really have been looking for other interesting topics. For some reason there just hasn’t been a lot of visually compelling images in in the media. Obama’s even got the photographers in the bag… The assignment this week was to caption the following picture:

US President Barack Obama poses for a photo in front of the Sphinx during a tour of the Great Pyramids of Giza following his landmark speech to the Muslim world. For eight years, US Muslims cringed at the rhetoric coming out of the White House. On Thursday, many here breathed a sigh of relief at the major shift marked by Obama's call for a new beginning with the Muslim world. (AFP/Mandel Ngan)

Here are the winning entries:

1) (Stephen Macklin) – “Put the columns right here.

2) (Korla Pundit) – “Between Barack and a hard face

3) (sarahconnor2) – “Hey, this would be a great backdrop for my apology about the United States role in the whole Cleopatra thing.

4) (Rodney Dill) – “A Sphinx-ster says what?

5) (Baron Von Ottomatic) – “I thought we were going to visit Leon Spinks.

6) (fustian) – “The Sphinx and the Sphincter.

The Readers Choice Award this week went to Stephen Macklin’s winning entry. There were so many great entries this week we’ll just honor one more great caption:

(Al Pennam) – Obama goes souvenir shopping: “Look at it, the nose is broken off. I’ll give you a 20% stake in GM for it and not a penny more.

That’s it for this weekend. A new edition of the Wizbang Weekend Caption Contest™ will debut Friday morning.
