The terrorist loving parents of Palestinian martyr Rachel Corrie are seeking to extend their 15 minutes of fame.
They are now suing Caterpillar Inc, because Caterpillar made the bulldozer which Corrie used in her attempt to win a Darwin Award.
Of course the AP in their usual clueless way makes Corrie out to be the victim.
Rachel Corrie, a student at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, was standing in front of a home in a refugee camp in Rafah, a Gaza Strip city near the Egyptian border, on March 16, 2003, when a bulldozer plowed over her.
So in the AP version… “She was just standing there, when out of the blue, this bulldozed magically appeared and PLOWED her over. Nobody even knew it was coming.”
Her parents are also suing Israel. (of course)
I wear it as a Badge of Honor that I voted for the President these people campaigned against.

This is the next step in the progression that started when cities and states brought suit against firearms manufacturers for the actions of criminals that used their products.

Unfortunately, the news story I linked to on the topic last year on my blog seems to be gone, but there was a case last April where a woman was suing Coors over her son’s death while he was driving drunk. As I recall, she was also planning to sue her son’s girlfriend’s family, for not stopping him from driving.
Actually, I did find something on the story here.
“According to the federal lawsuit, Caterpillar, Inc. violated international and state law by providing specially designed bulldozers to Israeli forces that it knew would be used to demolish homes and endanger civilians.” Uh, that is according to the filers of the suit, who filed in a Federal court – you seem to imply it is the government. Oh, and if by “specially designed” they mean the armor addons, that is done in Israel. Otherwise, “special design” just means Caterpillar makes more than one type of ‘dozer.
And someone mentioned the D9 model. Yeah, the organization she was involved with said that, but they were way off-base: the D9 is over two stories tall! The Israeli Defense Force website has a couple of pics, if you can’t find it on Caterpillar’s site. It is indeed a “special design”, meant for making a road or runway in a single pass! The ‘dozer Ms. Corrie was run over by can be found on almost any construction site.
And Ms. Corrie also violated her organization’s rules. She was alone (the others were still in the house finishing lunch), and she went to her knees (making it difficult to move out of the way) – both against her training. These points are based on quotes made by the others who were there before they got back to group HQ and were told to say other things and not mention these…

This law suit reminds me of my favorite Jerky Boys routine where the caller was upset by the things someone said to him (“I was hurt by his words” ),and the lawyer says “that’s a very complicated injury you have, you should make an appointment to see me.”
This kind of bullshit lawsuit makes me embarrassed to be a lawyer. How can any lawyer with self-respect file such a claim? Of course, it is my hope that such a rhetorical question will spark a string of lawyer jokes.

I am amazed at the hatred expressed on this web site. But it does help to let people know who is promoting racism, the new anti-Semitism and true ugliness in this world. Rachel Corrie is an American who deserves to be treated as such, rather than to be vilified by individuals who obviously hate America.
Why is it that there is only one rachel corrie but hundreds and hundreds of murdered Israelis? Who do we sue? Who do we blame with our children’s deaths? Where is the justice for the Israeli children who were not peace activists, who never purposefully put their lives on the line…who just wanted to dance, to eat, to walk down the street…to be kids?

Truthfully, individuals and groups on both sides of any modern conflict can be found guilt of inflicting attrocities on their opposition. Any individual who deprives another of their basic freedom to live is guilty of just that. You can always “justify” actions. Daily everybody overlooks human attrocities. People are blinded by money and their own pride. The worlds not going to change any time soon.
It saddens me greatly to see people still bashing Corrie. Its not her fault she was murdered. You can only blame the driver.
In the end we are all responsible for our own action.

This mam, like Corrie, was standing up for someone else, whether they we’re right or wrong. It takes a lot of guts to do that. I don’t think either of them steped out believing they were not putting their life in danger. they did it because they felt at the time what they were doing was the right thing to do. Fortunately the man delayed the tanks and survived. Corries wasn’t so fortunate, but you can’t blame her for standing up in what she believed.
In anycase its time you Corrie bashers grow up.
