Fox has put a stop to the O.J. “If I Did It” book and television interview.
News Corp., the parent company of book publisher HarperCollins and the FOX network, has canceled publication of the O.J. Simpson book and television special “If I Did It.”
“I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project,” said Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. chairman. “We are sorry for any pain that this has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson.”
A dozen FOX affiliates had already said they would not air the two-part sweeps month special, planned for next week before the book’s publication.
In the book, the one-time football superstar tells how he would have killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman if, in fact, he had done it.

Wouldn’t you just love to tell that killer to stick that up his murderous rear?
Good move for Fox — just too bad it took a public outcry to wake them up.
Thank goodness.
I hope no other company is so crass as to scoop this up.
My money is on CBS picking it up for Couric to try to save whatever her show is for sweeps.
I thought OJ was too busy looking for the real killer to be doing this kind of thing?
/sarcasm off.
If the book and TV special don’t fit……
I wish that Nocole would come back and testify. Maybe have NBC make it an episode of Medium.
This was beyond tasteless, Judith Regan should be deeply ashamed of herself.
The empty time left by the cancellation will be filled with a jello wrestling match between Rupert Murdoch and Bill O’Reilly.
A media outlet with a conscience?
Is the sky green? Have paparazzi failed to show up at TomKats nuptials? What the hell is going on here.
Oh wait… that wasn’t conscience. That would have shown itself before the contract was signed.
It was a flood of public outrage that could have fueled a moon mission that did it.
The countdown has started til the lawsuit is filed for breach of contract by Fox:
10,9,8.7…..
Simpson generated a lot of publicity.
Maybe now Rather will decide to be interviewed, and do a book, subject: “If I Really Knew All Along Those Documents Were Fakes?”
You just had to know that old “pucker puss” (lee lee) would have a snarkey comment. Thanks for not letting us down.
I don’t think Lee’s comment was particularly snarky. Fox does have a tendency to go after both the sensationalistic and the sleazy, so it’s no surprise to they cancelled this appalling OJ project only after it became clear to the suits that the publicity generated was just too adverse.
