The results of the 11/03/15 elections in Kentucky have given African-Americans something to celebrate.

From NBC News: “On Tuesday night, history was made in the state of Kentucky. Voters elected the first African-American to statewide office, making Jenean Hampton Kentucky’s new lieutenant governor.”

Regarding Hampton’s political rise, the Washington Post quotes African-American radio host James “Rick” Howland as saying, “We know Democrats ain’t doing nothing for us and we’re afraid of Republicans, and all of a sudden here’s a woman standing in who isn’t afraid of them. Are there racists in the room with her? Sure, but there are racists in the Democrat room, too.”
