70 Years Ago, Hiroshima Was Obliterated

There will be commentator after commentator condemning the United States for dropping The Bomb on Hiroshima. They are wrong.

I’m not going to go through all the excuses they offer, I’m just going to post the following for your thought on this day.

Truman did the right thing. Bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved millions of lives. The Japanese military were prepared to lose 30 million civilians in the battle for the home island and the US estimated we’d lose 1 million soldiers, sailors, and Marines.

The Japanese fought to the last man on every island against the Marines and civilians committed suicide rather than surrender. The cost in American (and Japanese) lives went up with every island. The final island battle, Okinawa, cost 20,000 American lives and 55,000 wounded in a matter of just three months. 110,000 Japanese were killed.

The idea that the Japanese were ready to surrender is a myth of the Left. Actually, it’s a lie. Once again, the US did the right thing.

Thank you Harry.
