Maybe the question of abortion is not above President Obama’s pay grade. He just had to get out of Saddleback Church to admit it.
Obama acknowledged that “no matter how much we want to fudge it … the fact is that at some level, the views of the two camps are irreconcilable.” But he still implored the University of Notre Dame’s graduating class and all in the U.S. to stop “reducing those with differing views to caricature. Open hearts. Open minds. Fair-minded words. It’s a way of life that always has been the Notre Dame tradition.”
This is vintage Obamaspeak. The president implores us to not caricature the abortion debate and open our minds and hearts. Sounds good, huh? Stereotyping is bad, open minds are good. Who can argue with that? No one. Then the President issues the command to control the terms of the language of the discussion: you must use “fair minded words”. This is how liberals have always prepped the battlefield for debates they couldn’t win…they clear the vernacular of language they find offensive and purge it from the public discussion. That is the essence of political correctness.
Fortunately the public may be coming to an awareness that such tactics are no longer effective.
