A Nebraska woman was arrested Monday for shoplifting a keychain from The Empire Mall after she faked birth pains, police spokesman Sam Clemens said.
When officers arrived at the mall shortly after 2 p.m., Erica Kaye McNally, 35, had been caught shoplifting and began to complain of birth pains, Clemens said. The Lincoln, Neb., woman was taken to a hospital where it then was discovered she was not pregnant, he said.
A search of McNally’s purse netted several loose prescription pills, Clemens said.
McNally was charged with shoplifting and possession of a controlled substance.
AP reports that she will have to pay for the hospital stay and ambulance ride. As she should.
