Sunday Evening Round Up

I weep for the liberty of my country when I see at this early day of its successful experiment that corruption has been imputed to many members of the House of Representatives, and the rights of the people have been bartered for promises of office. Andrew Jackson

  • The silent scream of the asparagus Here are some new terms for us to get used to. Plant Dignity. Biocentric moral view. Bioethicists. Of course the argument arises, why does a plant have the right to some kind of life or dignity when an unborn child does not? Why are plants more important than people? This new age environmentalism is disintegrating further into definite mental illness even as we speak. When any of my plants start saying “Feed me Seymore, I’ll show it my biocentric moral views by introducing my weed eater and a not so healthy dose of Round-Up. (Via Weekly Standard)
  • Un ejicated whites hurt barock According to an Associated Press-Yahoo News poll in April, the certain Republican presidential nominee John McCain would get more votes than Hillary Rodham Clinton from white voters who have not finished college, 43 percent to 30 percent. Barack Obama would do even worse than Clinton, trailing McCain with this group 44 percent to 22 percent. McCain has a 23-percentage point lead against Clinton among whites who have graduated college, but just an eight-point margin over Obama with that group. (Via Gateway Pundit)

  • Interview with Thaddeus McCotter What issues do you think the pundits and bloggers are not spending enough time on in the spending front? I think that they’re doing it pretty well, but I always like to point out one fundamental thing: the Democrats told us Washington spent too much money, they got elected, and then they immediately spent more. So, I think what would be helpful is if people had instances or ideas about government spending that they wanted to send to the Fiscal Integrity Task Force, send them to the House Policy Website or post them, because we check the blogs. Give your ideas to us; now’s a great time! Also, …if they think their Congressman would be a good member of a FIT task force, encourage them to join us. The more the merrier… (Via Tech Republican)
