Whew. Those last few minutes were almost too much for me. Man, Jonesy really flirts with distaster sometimes.
Now it’s back to Detroit for three games straight.
Tiger fans were really sweating for a while there. Take a look at the excitement at Tigers Talk at DetroitNews.com.
Here’s the story from the AP.
Of course it totally sucks, but perhaps proves why small market teams have trouble when compared with bloated overpaid rosters of cherry picked players. Well, at least the Yankees are out if it, but the Tigers, well, they paid to play another day.
Ain’t baseball playoffs grand?! If there’s anything better, I’d like to know it…
I became an Oakland A’s fan in ’72, as I watched the green and gold mustachioed brawlers take out the Reds in 7 games. I was only 6 at the time, but I have stayed with them through thick and thin. That being said, I don’t begrudge the Tigers any of the success they are enjoying now. Whoever wins the ALCS (don’t count the A’s out) will be my team in the World Series. While I don’t pretend to think any highly paid baseball player should be considered the “little guy”, it’s good to see teams that don’t allow themselves to be blackmailed into paying players exorbitantly do well.
