By all means spend $50 million or so investigating a cum stain, a blow-job and an extra-marital affair when it comes to Bill Clinton. But God forbid we should look into things like deception, lying, outing CIA agents, vioations of the Constitution, leading us into an unplanned war, spying on citizens, killing thousands and thousands and thousands of innocents to carry on a war that is full of corruption, makes no sense and was unplanned. Yes, hopefully we’ll uncover a modicum of the truth and you wingnuts can go on bleating about cum stains and blow-jobs.

Larry, Larry, Larry,
Calm down and wipe the spittle away for a second.
Bill Clinton brought the investigations on himself, there was so much going on that it begged to be investigated. Those investigations resulting in dozens of indictments and the conviction of an Arkansas governor, Jim Guy Tucker.
Yup, it was all about Monica, nothing to see here, move along.
Lorie ByrdAugust 7, 2006
Wow. That was certainly not worth repeating. Not exactly family friendly language there, but I will let it stand.
Here is what many Democrats just can’t grasp about the entire Monica thing (and the other scandals for that matter) — while Bill Clinton was busy letting Monica service him, and carrying on dozens of documented phone sex conversations with him, and meeting with her more frequently than several members of his cabinet, terrorists were plotting. China was getting our missile technology. Those Enron guys were scamming people. We were doing NOTHING toward energy independence. The dot coms were getting ready to bust all over the place. But Bill Clinton was all over that school uniform issue. I guess that is ONE thing that didn’t sit like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode in the next administration.
All the other ones did though. The economy began its downward trek before Clinton left office and contiued until Bush was able to pass stimulative tax cuts. We know the 9/11 terrorists’ plans were made while Clinton was still in office. We also know that Monica is not the only Clinton scandal. Illegal campaign contributions (envelopes full of cash from Chinese operatives passing hands in the White House), firing career employess and installing cronies (and cousins) in the travel office, intimidating other women like Kathleen Willey who were groped up by the sleazeball in the Oval Office…I could go on all day long. Anyone who thinks all the shenanigans going on in the Clinton White House did not affect the way the government operated are blind. I am just talking about the original actions alone. When you look at how the coverup and investigations affected things it is even worse.
By all means, delude yourself into thinking it was all about sex. Those who were paying attention know better. And those who noticed the names Jason Leopold and Joe Wilson in this Conyers’ tinfoil hat exercise know exactly how credible it is too.

There will be spittle from lots of mouths when the truth, as it always does, comes out. You folks like to investigate sex (one wonders why the obsession) and I’d prefer more serious ones….like why we went to war and who lied about what when, and who profited from the deaths of thousands. Of course it was all about Monica when it came to Bill Clinton because they had nothing else. After all, shooting watermelons in the back yard to try and prove he killed Vince Foster says just about all that need to be said about wingnuts.
LoveAmerica ImmigrantAugust 7, 2006

This is either an example of ignorance (naive or willfully) or spin. This is a common spin the left has used to cover up their intellectually and morally bankrupt defense of Bill Clinton. If they were serious, they wouldn’t block the investigation into the China funding scandal, Loral transfer of sensitive tech to China etc… Even now they are trying to cover up the Marc Rich pardon, the Jamie Goerlick ‘s wall that harmed our effort to fight terrorism, and Clinton passing the opportunity to capture Bin Laden.
Even the Lewinsky effort started as a sexual harassament law suit by Paula Jones. The left, despite their claim on women ‘s rights and so on, was willing to defend an alleged sexual abuser and rapist being the pres of the US while his adm made a mess of national security. The left knew they stood on the wrong side, so all they can do is to spout this spin and lie about “sex”.
I love it when the wingnuts make broad, sweeping and incredibly silly statements like::….they wouldn’t block the investigation….” How in the world can any investigation be blocked since you all run the whole government. Maybe you ought to take a basic government course LoveAmerica.
By your logic I assume you agree then that investigations of Rove and Cheyney vus a vis Plame would be ok. Also, investigations into the billions that have gone mising in Iraq as well as the waste in the contracts given Hallibuton? Now, be consistent here folks.
DDTAugust 7, 2006

Conyers is a disgrace to his office and to his constituents.

That’s what I like about you libtard, keep repeating that BS until you believe it.
Do we have to go over this again? No CIA agent was outed by this administration. If anything, this agent was outed by her husband. What part of the Constitution was violated? And Clinton wanted to go into Iraq in 1998 as well, but considering he didn’t wish to fight this war on terrorism with any gumption, we’re cleaning up his mess (no pun intended Monica).

At this point in time you would have to be so far into denial and self delusion to believe that this president is anything but a catastrophic disaster.
I know that there are about 25% of people out there that are so desperate to believe in this failed administration that they will follow it right over the cliff. Hope you guys are enjoying the ride.
We know who is in denial … it is those who criticize this President, who consistently ignore their role in making an inevitible war longer, harder, and more bloody …
… by continually acting to thwart the direct and decisive use of American force, relying instead on naive diplomacy, where our good faith is expolited by our enemies to become stronger, bolder, and more lethal.
These critics instead maintained the status quo … of Saddam’s mass graves, Palestinian suicide bombers, Iran’s terrorist tentacles of misery, and bin Laden’s machinations.
Disaster? Read this. The guys who “perpetrated” these blunders are now considered heroes … because back then the American people understood that war is a messy business, that you should not expect to be completed in one TV season.
“Yippie-ky-ay-a” has brought more REAL peace and freedom to the world, than “Kumbiyah” … the critics of this war impede real progress.
