This weeks Weekend Caption Contest™ was as topical as last weeks news. Given that the actual news of the Cheney shooting has already played out, unless you’re a DU/Kos kiddie, there’s nothing left but the jokes. The assignment this week was to caption the following picture:
Here are the winning entries:
1) (moseby) – “Holy Shit! Helen Thomas has WINGS!“
2) (Nylda) – “I thought it was Scooter Libby.“
3) (eLarson) – “Shot through the heart, and its too late…“
]]>< ![CDATA[
Honorable Mention
4) (bullwinkle) – “Pheasants? I thought you said peasants! At least toss up a few lawyers for practice.“
5) (KP) – “OK, David… you want to know exactly how it happened?“
6) (Mark) – “Cut! Cut! Dick, if we are going to make this believable you’ve got to keep your eyes on that bird. Don’t worry about Harry, he’ll be on his mark. Remember Dick, eyes on bird. OK, lets give this another try people…and action.“
The Liberal Schadenfreude Award goes to:
(FTLOG) – “And finally tonight, President Bush accompanied Vice President Cheney on a hunting trip. “He just wouldn’t take no for an answer,” Bush said of Cheney. Oddly, while the President was retrieving a fallen bird, Cheney was heard whistling “Hail to the Chief” as he set his sites on a low-flying bird.”
Until next Friday…
I suspect that Helen’s wings are Harpy or batlike, I can’t envision them any other way.
I did like Nylda’s entry, though.
Nice!
Not to be knitpicky, but the line form the cheesy song is actually:
“Shot through the heart, and YOU”RE too late…”
um, Good Lt….
So long as we’re being “nitpicky“, the line is:
“Shot through the heart, and you’re to BLAME”
Because then it rhymes properly with “name”…
At least we can laugh about ourselves…unlike the other side!
And probably “shot through the pericardium” would have been more accurate, but would have really ruined the meter.
