Now that the whole Plamegate nonsense has been exposed as a hoax, the liberals have already found a counter argument:
“But if no law was broken why was there an investigation?”
And they call themselves liberals?
Liberals routinely fight for acquittal in every criminal case. Look at the stink they have caused over Gitmo and those guys are terrorists! Now they want to say that just because there was an investigation the person must be guilty? I hope they turn in their ACLU membership cards.
If an investigation proves guilt, Bill Clinton would be sitting in a cell next to Charles Manson by now.

“But if no law was broken why was there an investigation?””
Because the CIA was a**-covering?
Tob
Because some bureaucrat at a high level thought it sounded like a good idea at the time, but now they realize that someone they *like* might get in trouble?
Me thinks you are putting way to much credit into leaked stories protecting the WH. Fitzgerald has something, on who I don’t know, but I would bet there is something there.
And if the WH is so innocent, why have they been lying for the past few years?
And completely oblivious to all the hyperbole is prosecutor Fitzgerald, just going about his buisness…
TIC TOC, TIC TOC
Take another toke Solo
So I guess Ken Starr had the goods on your buddy Clinton too?
There was an investigation because the Democrats and the Media demanded it.
They know that for many people today, if there’s an investigation, there’s assumed guilt.
“The seriousness of the charge demands an investigation!” So says the typical liberidiot media-type. They asked for it, just like they asked for the Starr investigation. If they don’t like the outcome, then they need to stop asking for the investigation!
Democrats, who are more inclined toward volume than veracity anyway, just aren’t very good at logic… even the really simple kind.
Still, if Fitzgerald didn’t have anything at all, why is Miller still in the slammer. And who is she protecting by stayng there?
My money is still on Joe Wilson.
Paul —
“Now they want to say that just because there was an investigation the person must be guilty?”
No one is saying that because there’s an investigation that “proves” Rove is guilty. The point is that the CIA asked the DOJ to look into the matter to see if a crime was committed. Why? Because for whatever reason Plame’s job with them was classified information. Fitzgerald, I assume, is looking into whether her outing was intentional or not. There’s no way Fitzgerald and the GJ would send a journalist to jail for an investigation that was just for show.
Secondly, Wilson’s quote in his interview with Wolf Blitzer? Give me a break. Read the whole exchange:
WILSON: My wife was not a clandestine officer the day that Bob Novak blew her identity.
BLITZER: But she hadn’t been a clandestine officer for some time before that?
WILSON: That’s not anything that I can talk about.
Wilson uses deliberately oblique language to describe his wife’s status. Note that he is neither confirming or denying that she was a clandestine officer the day BEFORE Novak outed her. Why? Because he isn’t at liberty to discuss the identity of a clandestine agent! And neither was Novak. Christ guys it’s Tom Clancy 101. Can we get Jay Tea in here to quote the relevant passage from whatever spy fiction he’s jerking off to these days?
There seems to be a pattern emerging:
The CBS Killian memoes were important, even if they were fakes, because they confirmed what we already knew. “Fake but accurate.”
The President is guilty of calling Iraq an “imminent threat,” even if he didn’t, because of how he juxtaposed Iraq and other images.
Karl Rove should resign because he did something wrong even if he didn’t violate any laws, “Wrong even if not illegal.”
An interesting line of “ethics” being drawn here. One wonders whether any such demands have been imposed by those propounding this line on their own side?
Now, since we all know where this investigation is going, can we get back to Newsweek‘s fraudulent reporting on GITMO and about how the congressional delegation that visited to witness this travesty found it to be just fine?
WILSON: That’s not anything that I can talk about.
Please, frameone. That’s just spy-novel cloak-and-dagger stuff you just fell for. Too bad that Plame was working at CIA-Langley and that all her friends and neighbors knew where she worked.
My uncle works for the CIA, too. No big deal.
Please read Joe’s letter, it should help you all understand:

“Please read Joe’s letter,”
Okay, Joe Wilson’s Man, went, read it, found it fairly unimpressive although the use of the word ‘anodyne’ in the context of a quote is new to me. I thought it meant palliative.
What part did you think was determinative?
Tob
Joe’s statment: My wife was not a clandestine officer the day that Bob Novak blew her identity.
Does he mean: Because Bob Novak blew her identity, my wife is no longer a clandestine officer.
Then he tries to be oblique with the “That’s not anything that I can talk about.”
Either there is something big coming on this story, (bigger than Rove–any guesses?), or he simply loosing his grip on his already barely-tenable grasp on realiy.
Anbody catch APs correction on their reporting of the Blitzer interview?
Dumbasses.
In his book he says she didn’t do anything after 1997, of course that is if you believe his book.
I am still trying to figure out how he went from “I don’t think this evidence is credible” to “I proved nobody tried to buy anything. Ever. Absolutely impossible.”
The truly logical explanation is Wilson leaked it to hype his book, and hope that in the turmoil nobody realized how full of shit he is. It almost worked, but I think he is about to fall hard.
Who asked for the investigation first, the CIA or Schumer? Does anyone have a link for the CIA’s referral to the Justice Dept?
U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer’s July 24, 2003 letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller:
“July 24, 2003 [10 days after Novak’s article]
The Honorable Robert Mueller
Federal Bureau of Investigation
935 Pennsylvania Ave, NW
Washington, DC 20429
Dear Director Mueller:
I am writing to request that you launch an immediate criminal investigation into reports that two senior members of the Bush Administration made the identity of an undercover Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operative public.
According to several recent news accounts, two senior Administration officials last week distributed unsolicited information indicating that Valerie Plame, the spouse of long-time State Department veteran Ambassador Joseph Wilson, was a CIA operative. This disclosure was part of an apparent attempt to discredit Ambassador Wilson’s findings about potential uranium exports from Niger to Iraq and intimidate other officials from speaking their minds…” blah blah blah
