Targeting minority populations with over the air or cable channels is a risky venture, so it helps to have the deep pockets of Viacom behind you. MTV Networks is launching LOGO, a network targeted at lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) viewers.

LOGO, a new cable television network targeted at lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) viewers will be launched by MTV Networks, a division of Viacom Inc. on February 17, 2005.

<p/>The new channel will be advertiser-supported, targeting primarily gays and lesbians, 25-49, and will provide a mix of original and acquired programming that is authentic, smart, inclusive and open-minded.” src=”” width=”341″ height=”133″ border=”0″ /></a></div>
<a href=San Francisco Chronicle columnist Tim Goodman thinks that the biggest problem facing the channel is religious backlash or boycotts, but finding a reason for being or a hit show.

Given that 75% of the programming will NOT be original content they’re going to have the find something other than Will and Grace for their prime time lineup. Suggest your 8PM – 11PM lineups, maybe they’ll be watching…
