Molly’s Musings notes that ZIP codes turned 40 years old on July 1. There is no mention in the AP story of the +4 part that just really never took off.
Molly just fled Blogger and is still trying to get the new site decorated. Her old Blogger site was excellent, and I’m sure her new MT powered site will be even better. Stop by and welcome her to freedom!
What do you mean the +4 part never took off? My local post master is a zip code Nazi. If incoming mail doesn’t have the correct 4 digit extension, I might not get the letter for weeks.
On the other hand, hardly anyone knows his +4 digits. Still, I’d rather deal with nine digits than the alphanumeric concoctions in Canada and the UK.
