“Animals bite, people bite, Mike Tyson bites. So what?“
St. James Davis on Moe the chimpanzee, who was removed from his West Covina, California home by authorities in 1999 for biting off part of a womans finger. Last week Davis and his wife were attacked by two other chimps while visiting Moe at the Animal Haven Ranch outside Bakersfield, California. Davis is fighting for his life after the chimpanzees mutilated his face, foot, hands, buttocks, and genitalia.

Jeez, that bites!
Awful! My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
[willowy voice]Oh, oh, but chimps are such gentle, harmless creatures! And they’re so similar to us! How could they possibly do that?[/willowy voice]
Suffice it to say, I’m sure there are a lot of people who are more concerned about the fate of the chimps than they are the human being.
And it just amazes me how often people are shocked – SHOCKED – when wild animals kept as pets attack people. Duh! Hello?! Get a flippin’ clue! When are we going to crack down on this idiotic practice?
For the record, if a chimp’s just ripped off my face & balls, shoot me after you’ve shot the chimp.
Darwin’s Theory: A smart monkey doesn’t monkey around with another monkey’s monkey.
Gee, and I always thought it was only a schtick by Frank J.
They say chimps are 5 times stronger than a man because of the density of their muscles — that you would have a better chance against a bear bc you could curl up in a ball, whereas, a chimp would just unpeel you like a banana.
We had a tiger running loose the week before and shot. The owners never reported its escape weeks earlier. There is no law requiring the reporting of ownership of “privately owned” tigers.
How did the chimp escape? Did the animal park build a fence that the World Court demanded to have torn down because it violated his chimpanzee rights?
Chimps. Four chimps escaped. Inside job?
Awesome quote!
So, let me get this straight: California will not let a law-abiding resident, after background check, own a semi-automatic rifle that LOOKS military (even if functionally the same as a hunting rifle), but WILL let people own, without regulation, dangerous wild animals capable of killing people?? Right. Got it.
Wild animals don’t kill people. Guns kill people.
That’s California logic for ya.
My only hope is that St. James Davis [what a dumbass name!] did not contribute to the gene pool before this awful [awful funny too!] attack.
guns don’t kill people people kill people, but the gun helps. One problem that my party has is that this woman and her husband probably belong to it, on TV the wife said “my husband was trying to reason with the chimps” makes me want to own a gun.
A couple of comments:
1) Actually, chimps aren’t monkeys. You’d think the USA Today reporter would get that right, having ready access to chimp experts and all. Correctly, chimps are apes. Monkeys belong to the family Cercopithecidae, and chimpanzees (along with gorillas and orangutans) to the family Pongidae.
2) And they’re so similar to us! How could they possibly do that? — I think you just answered your own question.
That said, I had no idea they could be so violent.
Heh, having grown up in Bakersfield, California, all I can say is…GOOOO MONKEYSSS
Sounds like a hit to me. Professional too. Hiring 2 chimps with that “retard” strength to rip the guy apart. Just brilliant!!
