RedState is having a contest, but it is only open for 24 hours and it started this afternoon. A prize will be awarded to the reader who best articulates the best reasons to vote Republican. I think many will come in well under 100 words, with “Speaker Pelosi” or “Majority Leader Reid,” but others will, no doubt, include references to tax policy and national security. Check out the entries, or add your own, in the comments at RedState.
Update: Check out winner Liz Mair’s entry at Red State!

Vote Republican if:
-you honestly think this country is in better shape today than 6 years ago and that we’re headed in the right direction.
-you want to hand your kids a country (and a world) that is less stable and a US crippled in its ability to do anything about it.
-you don’t care about handing your kids, and theirs, a debt so huge it will impact their standard of living as well as their security.
-you could care less about your best interests and those of the country in general being represented by your government.
-your vision of America extends no further than the 1950’s and you think you’re just struggling to get back to the good old days.
-you have faith and trust in the government.
You have no idea of the economic realities of the community I was born into. You only know that I said I was white.

If you are white that’s ALL I need to know. Because as a generalization you were less likely to grow up poor to a single mother as the black child I depicted above.
But you ARE right. It’s not race that matters. It’s poverty that matters. (Although race is by no means neutral at this point) Being born into poverty gives you a distinct disadvantage with regards to your future prospects. Because of blacks history they are simply statistically more likely to be born into poverty.
But the bottom line is that if you are born into poverty your prospects of advancing/ breaking the cycle are better under a Democratic policies then they are under Republican policies. The evidence for this is absolutely undeniable.
In the 1950’s a father could work one job ~ 50/week and support his family. Now 60% of families have both parents working full time and many still are falling behind.
If since the Reagan revolution minimum wage increased at the same rate as top executives then the current minimum wage would be $23.03/ hour…not $5.15/ hour.
So actually any reasonably intelligent poor person has a vested interest in voting democratic. In fact even well to do white guys like me do to because I know my own self interest lies in our country having a strong middle class and strong democratic principals that put people before corporations…….and hint that’s not socialism and it IS supportive of capitalism. It’s just a recognition that democracy takes precedence over Capitalism. Don’t you agree?
Can wingnuts even come up with 100 words?
muirgeo…
general comments.
Not all single mothers are poor.
Not all black children are poor.
Not all families with two parents working really need to.
In the 1950’s, many families were two income families.
And finally…
But the bottom line is that if you are born into poverty your prospects of advancing/ breaking the cycle are better under a Democratic policies then they are under Republican policies.
Seeing how long welfare has been in existance there should be no more poor people.
A get out of jail free card and cute little boy’s butts for everyone! God Bless the GOP.
Actually there are 2 good reasons to vote Republican.
The Daily Show With John Stewart
BReal Time With Bill Maher
Where else would we get our laughs for the next 2 years. Oh, I forgot. Alfred E. Bush…never mind. Vote for the dems.
Hey “pucker” shore is nice to see that I am getting under your skin-snicker snicker. You even have almost caught up with “mun-go” as being the link king.
My take on vote Rep. because:
1–It will get rid of castoff from Kos Kiddies such as old “pucker puss” (lee lee), “mun-go” (linkman), “hughie” (beyond words), “preying mantis” (bug eater) and the rest that pretend they are the fix-all for all the world. YAHOO
It’s funny reading muirego talk about the poor unwed teenage mothers considering that the left is the direct cause of 95% of them.
The left wants to encourage and enable this type of thing while the right would rather prevent it from happening.
Unfortunately there are no movies or tv shows that explain this concept. You need to read and think to fully understand the root cause of the problem. For anyone interested in really understanding this I’d reccomend:

If you are like Muirego, Lee, Feild-negro, et. al. and believe it is best to just perpetually treat the symptoms and completely ignore the disease than vote “democrat”.
If you believe it is better to cure the disease while treating the symptoms, then vote Republican.
Main reason not to vote Republican.
Death toll in Iraq under Hussein 380,000
Death toll in Iraq under Bush 2700 Americans
600,000+ Iraqis
Answer by Republicans: stay the course.
“In the 1950’s a father could work one job ~ 50/week and support his family. Now 60% of families have both parents working full time and many still are falling behind.”
Again Muirego attempts to project the problem for which the left is derctly responsible onto the right.
The main reason we need two income families today is the culture of litigation that the left had brought to this county. Every single product and service that is availble in the US has an invisible “lawyer” tax added to the cost. Every American is paying several thousands of dollars every year directly to support the left wing trial lawyers who contribute practically nothing to our society.
Hugh: “eath toll in Iraq under Bush 2700 Americans 600,000+ Iraqis”
Michael Moore would be proud of you Hugh!
This statistic came from a study that has a margin of error of 400,000 – 800,000. In other words that statistic is completely meaningless, but it does support the secular socialist worldview so the MSM/lefties will report that meanless statisic without mentioning the inconvent truth that the marging of error is greater than the actual number.
But then again, what would we expect from someone who gets their information from a fake news show- the Daily Show. They even openly admit that they make everything up, yet Hugh thinks its real.
P. Bunyan:
As usual you are not sophisticated enough to understand. I watch The Daily Show for laughs….99% of which have to do with witless Republicans.
Heh heh heh (see that’s how they do Alfred E Bush) on the show.
And…so if I subtract 800,000 from 600,000 your point is that here has actually been a plus 200,ooo gain in the Iraqi population? That might actually be true….200,000 additional terrorists might just be true.
Heh heh heh
Vote democrate, because they will raise minimum wage and help the poor people.
“If since the Reagan revolution minimum wage increased at the same rate as top executives then the current minimum wage would be $23.03/ hour…not $5.15/ hour.”
It’s economics 101 here! If minimum wage were raised to 23.03/hr then milk would cost $12. How did I come up with this crasy idea? Well overly educated liberals, its called economics.
If a small business owner is paying 3 employees $5/hr (minumum wage) and minumum wage is raised to $7.50 then how does the business owner make back his extra $7.50? Option 1) Fire one employee. Option 2) Raise prices.
The end result: Poor people have no more buying power than they had to begin with, and higher unemployment to go with it. Middle class gets can buy less with its moderate income. I’m voting for this!!!
Hugh,
Based on what you post here, I assumed that you got 100% of your information from fake sources like the Daily [Secular Socialist Propaganda] Show. If I was wrong in my assumption I apologize.
Still, the fact that you posted such as worthless and meanless statistic says volumes about what you believe to be true and tends to lower your credability below zero and into the negatives. (In other words the truth is most likely the exact opposite of what you post.)
The fact that you find the Daily [SSP] Show humorous, shows me that you have a sick and evil mind.
Right on bryclark21!
I think a better name for the minimum wage would be the “Secular Socialist Barrier to Employment”
If the minimum wage is raised beyond what someone is worth, that person will no longer be able to find employment. Of course that person will also most likely vote for “democrats” so the “democrats” want to raise the minimum wage to increase the number of poor unemployable persons so they can get more votes and power.
“If you are white that’s ALL I need to know.” Spoken like a true liberal.
Reading comments about which party to vote for really has opened my eyes as to how out of touch with reality liberals are.
I live in a state where we’ve had dems in authority for the last several years, and in that time my state has gone from being strong economically to being a total mess. And that’s not even mentioning the usual party “issues” that have brought the state into a sharp moral decline as well. I admit, I stupidly voted for the democrat last election. Not this time. I just pray that the conservative candidate wins and can clean up the mess our current governor has made of what was once a strong, proud state.
Vote democrat and Al Quaeda’s got Your back.
Actually, I get my information from The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New York Post, Newsweek, Time Fox News, the Drudge Report, The Huffington Post, Michelle Malkin, Wizbang, CNN, MSNBC, the Washington Times and ESPN. I find ESPN to be the best.
The fact that you don’t think the Daily Show if funny is the perfect example of what is wrong with right wing loons. You have no ability to think for yourselves.
“A get out of jail free card and cute little boy’s butts for everyone!” curly
You got it backwards, Curly. Those on the right and in the GOP have referred Foley for investigation and are calling for the harshest punishment the law will allow. It was Clinton, a Democrat as I recall, who pardoned a congressman who had sex with a page. Inconvenient facts.
You’ll vote Republican if you can’t stomach:
President Johnson, Humphrey, McGovern, Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Gore, and Kerry.
‘Nuff said.
Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid collected a $1.1 million windfall on a Las Vegas land sale even though he hadn’t personally owned the property for three years, property deeds show.
In the process, Reid did not disclose to Congress an earlier sale in which he transferred his land to a company created by a friend and took a financial stake in that company, according to records and interviews.
The Nevada Democrat’s deal was engineered by Jay Brown, a longtime friend and former casino lawyer whose name surfaced in a major political bribery trial this summer and in other prior organized crime investigations. . . . Reid hung up the phone when questioned about the deal during an AP interview last week.
How ’bout dis:
“I vote Republican so you can vote.”
Vote Democrat. They know what’s best for you, slave!
All you need to know is that Dummycrats are the Party of National Socialists, the party that propped up the KKK, the party that brought you Political Correctness. Sure, it was just a blowjob, but any man will admit that a blowjob trumps ANYTHING and we cannot think of anything EXCEPT a blowjob when we are:
A. Offered one.
B. Expecting one.
C. Getting one.
and after we get it, we cannot think of anything else but getting another.
In summation, it would have been a good idea if Clinton would have actually done something for national security and got the blowjob AFTER.
😉
Damn. I wish I could have entered the contest. I have the perfect slogan for the next two election cycles:
BE A WINNER…
NOT A WHINER…
VOTE REPUBLICAN.
I’m building an image…it will be available at:
