Adam M. Smith is the CFO and Treasurer at Vante, a medical device company in Tucson, Arizona and an Adjunct Lecturer at The University of Arizona. He’s also a bit of a dick.
Mr. Smith decided that he would participate in the Stand with Chick-Fil-A day, not to show support for the company, but to harass the drive-thru help. Here’s the video that he posted then pulled after the world found out about it and called him every name in the book.
Notice how utterly impressed with himself Smith is, and how completely unsympathetic he is the young woman who gracefully deals with his abuse. And how quaint of Mr. Smith the mention that he’s not gay, though I’ve got my doubts about that – not that it matters in this case.
Smith isn’t some Occupy Wall Street-type nobody, he’s part of the 1%. According to his soon to scrubbed LinkedIn profile and faculty pages he’s manages at least five people at Vante, and he teaches a class at Arizona. Pity those who have to work for or listen to this self-righteous douchebag, because you can be sure that this short video is probably just a taste of the kind of douchery that those who work for him have to endure.
Vante is an employee-owned medical technology company focused on, among other things, catheter development. Catheter’s are the tubes that they shove up various body cavities, and I can think of lot’s of slang expressions based on the medical devices his company makes that would apply to Smith.

Update: Vante has released the following statement:
Vante regrets the unfortunate events that transpired yesterday in Tucson between our former CFO/Treasurer Adam Smith and an employee at Chick-fil-A. Effective immediately, Mr. Smith is no longer an employee of our company.
The actions of Mr. Smith do not reflect our corporate values in any manner. Vante is an equal opportunity company with a diverse workforce, which holds diverse opinions. We respect the right of our employees and all Americans to hold and express their personal opinions, however, we also expect our company officers to behave in a manner commensurate with their position and in a respectful fashion that conveys these values of civility with others.
We hope that the general population does not hold Mr. Smith’s actions against Vante and its employees.
An apology from Mr. Smith would probably have sufficed, but it’s their company and they do what’s best for them. Thanks to the Miguel Marrero for pointing out the statement.
