More and more and more evidence the (misnamed) surge is working.
The number of Iraqi civilians killed per month in bombings and shootings has fallen to the lowest level this year, the Iraqi government says.
In September, 884 civilians were killed by violence, less than half the figure for August, the government said.
The BBC’s Jon Brain in Baghdad says the figures suggest the so-called surge involving 30,000 extra US troops is having some success.
September also saw the lowest number of US troops killed for more than a year.
When General Petraeus was giving his testimony, we heard all sorts of wacky theories from the left trying to disprove that American Troops where winning in Iraq. Kevin Drum tried to tell his readers the reduction is violence didn’t exist — then when the reality was just too overwhelming, in a further act of denial, he tried to explain it away as a seasonal variation.
It is time for the “surrender at any cost” Democrats to admit they where wrong to disparage Petraeus and his report. They won’t do that of course. Petraeus has earned time to prove his tactics can produce long term results. So far the results have been spectacular.
And it’s time for more than a few Democrats to apologize.
And this marks the official start of the Paul Hooson Suicide Watch.
