— The federal government posted a monthly surplus of $27 billion in June.
— So far this fiscal year the annual budget deficit is 41% lower than the deficit posted in the comparable period of the prior fiscal year.
— The annual increase in federal spending at present actually is lower than the prevailing inflation rate.
— Total net payroll employment by the federal government has declined in five of the past seven years.
— Adjusting for the increased size of our economy’s GDP, the budget deficit today is far below those posted in the 1980’s and below the deficits posted through much of the 1990’s too.
Obviously if Lou Dobbs and Paul Krugman found out about any of these items they’d soil their panties.
