Ruckus About Voter Registration

Apparently, dead people should be registered to vote but not Chick-fil-A patrons. That’s the take-away from two news reports.

Democratic Party officials in Pinellas County, Florida are having a cow because voter-registration drives have been taking place in local Chick-fil-A restaurants.

“A controversy is clucking in Pinellas County over chicken sandwiches, sweet tea and voter registration cards. The Stonewall Democrats of Pinellas County are crying foul over Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark’s decision to hold voter registration drives at nine Chick-fil-A locations.”

Why the fuss? Because the Democrat officials doubt that the restaurants have many patrons who support Democratic Party causes.

Granted, having a voter-registration drive in any restaurant is odd. However, if patrons of a restaurant are eligible to vote, then one shouldn’t object to them registering to vote.

Meanwhile, dead people have been registered to vote in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

“Harrisonburg officials and the FBI are investigating allegations of voter registration fraud after officials say almost 20 voter applications were turned in under the names of dead people.”

One Democrat politician in Virginia poo-pooed the seriousness of the fraudulent voter registration. That shouldn’t be surprising. After all, dead people aren’t known to vote for Republicans.

No, people shouldn’t be disqualified from voting because they eat at Chick-fil-A, but they should be disqualified if they don’t have a pulse.
