Poor New York City. They’re quickly reverting back to the bad old pre-Rudy days under the incompetent leadership of Bill de Blasio. Crime is skyrocketing, the widow-washer man is back, things are just going to hell in a handcart. And now this.
Two are dead and at least 31 are sick from Legionnaires’ disease in the South Bronx.
Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett said the city has launched an investigation into the outbreak, which started on July 10 and that “disease detectives,” are on the case.
“We know a lot about Legionnaires Disease, and we know a lot about outbreaks— we’ve investigated them over the years. This particular outbreak is still under investigation, so we have an evolving situation…in which the numbers may change,” Bassett said at a City Hall press conference Wednesday.
The disease is typically borne in water from cooling towers, plumbing systems, hot tubs, etc. and the symptoms are flu-like. Fortunately for New Yorkers the disease cannot be passed from person to person.
The good news is that it’s easily treatable once diagnosed and the even better news is that the New York media will have something to focus on other than the ongoing disaster that is the de Blasio regime at City Hall.
