With “friends” like Pope Francis, who needs enemies? Now the Pope notorious for his Marxist rhetoric is essentially saying that Christian “fundamentalists” are somehow just like Islamist terrorists. This guy is a disaster for Catholics and the west.
During an address last weekend, Pope Francis said that equating Islam with it worst, most violent members is unfair. Then he went on to downplay Islamist terror by saying that Christians have their fundamentalists, too–as if Islamist terrorists and Christian hardliners are exactly the same.
Francis said that calling terrorists Muslim was a mistake because not all Muslims are terrorists.
“You just can’t say that, just as you can’t say that all Christians are fundamentalists. We have our share of them (fundamentalists). All religions have these little groups,” he said.
“They (Muslims) say: ‘No, we are not this, the Koran is a book of peace, it is a prophetic book of peace’.”
Francis said he had made the suggestion of a global condemnation of terrorism by Islamic leaders in talks on Friday with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.
“I told the president that it would be beautiful if all Islamic leaders, whether they are political, religious or academic leaders, would speak out clearly and condemn this because this would help the majority of Muslim people,” he said.
This is left-wingery at its most self-destructive.
We do not have any worldwide movement of Christians, or Jews, or Buddhists running around blowing up stores, killing strangers, and beheading captives. And all the ones that are doing this claim to be devout Muslims.
Burying your head in the sand with this nice-nice nonsense like Francis is doing here only allows us all to let down our guard and to be easily blindsided by the pure hate contained in Islam. It causes us to underestimate how far these monsters will go.
Pope Francis has already been caught up in other controversies of his own making by spouting obvious communist rhetoric then denying it. Now he is saying his own people are just like Islamist terrorists.
I know what some of you out there will probably say: “wellllll, he didn’t reeeeeally say Christians are terrorists.” If you take this line, you are no better than Francis. After all, it is inescapable that he meant to say that fundamentalists of every stripe are exactly the same. That was his point. Therefore, he meant to say Christians are terrorists.
