Olbermann Canned, Again

Here’s your feel good Friday afternoon story.  Keith Olbermann has been fired by CurrentTV.

Current was also founded on the values of respect, openness, collegiality, and loyalty to our viewers. Unfortunately these values are no longer reflected in our relationship with Keith Olbermann and we have ended it.

One could of course ask why they started it in the first place.  I attended a speech at Cornell by Olbermann back when he was just a witty sportscaster for ESPN.  The speech was fine and generally entertaining.  I was pretty shocked to watch his spiral downward into leftwing lunacy.  The spiral, it seems, continues.  The NYTimes adds:

Mr. Olbermann will not be given an opportunity to sign off, since Mr. Spitzer will start his new show on Friday night. This will be Mr. Spitzer’s second shot at an 8 p.m. talk show; in 2010, two years after he resigned the governorship after admitting to his involvement in a prostitution ring, he led a short-lived show on CNN. It was cancelled in mid-2011.

I’m not sure which is worse–getting fired from a network with basically no viewers or being replaced by a disgraced politician who is himself a laughingstock?

HotAir reports that Olbermann has started spewing a bunch of tweets in response.  I’d post those here but I don’t want to ever give the man a wider audience for his unhinged rants.  HotAir does note that part of the rants target Al Gore.  I’m not sure the whole situation could be any sweeter.  Enjoy and have nice weekend, all.
