One of the common cries of those who defend the free market system and oppose most government interventions as a matter of principle is that the market tends to correct itself; if one just waits and gives the free market a chance, quite often it will find its own solutions. It’s remarkably adaptive and flexible in that way.
I was reminded of that when I read this story about how a bunch of people who are underwater on their homes are coping — and how some enterprising college students are finding a really, really cool alternative to dorms and apartments.
Is it a perfect solution? Hell, no. Is it even a great long-term solution? Nope. But it’s just one way the market can fix itself — as long as it’s allowed to.
