“You can’t just make money on SUVs and trucks,” Obama said during a town hall forum in Cannon Falls, Minn. “There is a place for SUVs and trucks, but as gas prices keep on going up, you have got to understand the market. People are going to try to save money.”
Um, no. People want reliable, comfortable, safe vehicles that can carry their family plus cargo. They don’t want go-carts with windshields, which is what the government’s CAFE standards will force automakers to produce. And electric cars are simply too expensive to produce, and impractical in too many ways, to be profitable for car companies.
Sigh. Looks like we’re in for another run of “bad luck”.
