Newt Gingrich is channeling Brenda Lee as he attempts damage control over comments made this past weekend:
Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has apologized to congressman Paul Ryan for criticizing his proposal to overhaul Medicare.
Spokesmen for both Gingrich and Ryan tell The Associated Press that the former House speaker called Ryan on Tuesday and offered an apology.
Frankly, the apology is good and necessary but I think it changes little. The man is damaged goods and is not who Republicans should be looking to as we move toward 2012.
