Obama in Rhode Island yesterday:
He said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, “we can’t have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”
Thankfully Obama isn’t in the Tea Party or a statement like that would have Olbermann and Maddow and many others calling him a racist.
We should be as thankful that Obama is a uniter, not a divider, or we’d really be misconstruing these words:
“If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, ‘We’re going to punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,’ if they don’t see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it’s going to be harder and that’s why I think it’s so important that people focus on voting on November 2.”
Referring specifically to Republicans such as Senator John McCain, who formerly supported an overhual but now are stressing border security and supporting strict immigration laws like Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration measure, Mr. Obama said, “Those aren’t the kinds of folks who represent our core American values.”
Sit in the back… punish your enemies… not the kind of folks who represent our core American values… far cries from what Obama said to Steve Kroft on 60 minutes during the Presidential campaign:
I am a practical person. One of the things I’m good at is getting people in a room with a bunch of different ideas who sometimes violently disagree with each other and finding common ground, and a sense of common direction. And that’s the kind of approach that I think prevents you from making some of the enormous mistakes that we’ve seen over the last eight years.
Actually Mr. President… you’re a liar… one of the biggest in political history… and America may never be the same for buying into your lies.
I pray that in a week’s time, America begins taking steps to right the wrong that is your Presidency.
