Today’s winner is John McLaughlin. He gets the award for the following–
John McLaughlin, authorities say, picked the wrong guy to tell he was a U.S. Marshal: A real one.
In fact, prosecutors say, he blew his cover over $2 at a kids’ football game.
John McLaughlin is charged with impersonation of a federal agent, a felony.
Federal investigators now are trying to pin down how many people the out-of-work contractor fooled, or at least tried to fool.
Actual lawmen arrested McLaughlin, 48, this morning at his Jupiter home after a federal grand jury in West Palm Beach indicted him Thursday.
U.S. Magistrate Judge James J. Hopkins ordered McLaughlin held in lieu of $100,000 bail, assistant U.S. Attorney John McMillan said this afternoon. He is charged with impersonation of a federal agent, a felony punishable by up to three years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Nothing else needs to be said. I name John McLaughlin today’s Knucklehead of the Day.
