Obama’s Aunt an Illegal Alien; She Contributed to His Campaign; Lives in Public Housing

Barack Obama mentioned his Aunti Zeituni in his book Dreams of My Father. The AP reports today that not only is she in this country illegally, but that she was ordered out of the country four years ago. Obviously, she refused to leave. That makes her a deportation fugitive.

Barack Obama’s aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.

Zeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as “Aunti Zeituni” in Obama’s memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango’s case.

Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcment official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.

Of course, the AP buries at the very end of its article this sentence:

It was not immediately clear how Onyango might have qualified for public housing with a standing deportation order.

Here’s a novel idea for the AP: how about doing a little research and finding out.

Wait it gets better. She also donated money to Obama’s presidential campaign, which is illegal:

It shall be unlawful for a foreign national directly or through any other person to make any contribution of money or other thing of value, or to promise expressly or impliedly to make any such contribution, in connection with an election to any political office; or in connection with any primary election, convention, or caucus held to select candidates for any political office; or for any person to solicit, accept, or receive any such contribution from a foreign national.

2 U.S.C. § 441e.

I’m sure there will be plenty of Obama sycophants who will make all kinds of excuses since she’s Obama’s aunt. The fact that she’s related to Obama is irrelevant. She’s not an American citizen so she can’t donate. Now if the press would look into all the other illegal donations.

Boston Housing Authority deputy director Bill McGonagle is telling the media to back off because Obama’s illegal alien aunt is feeling a little bit oppressed:

McGonagle said that Onyango has been overwhelmed by the media attention since the news of her relationship with Obama was broken yesterday by The Times of London.

“Miss Onyango has asked that we respect her privacy and she be left alone,” he said. “She’s feeling very put upon. We are asking the press to back off because she is feeling a little bit oppressed.”

I think Joe the Plumber has something say about feeling “a little bit oppressed.” The media and the Democrats rifled through his records in an effort to find something to smear him with. Aunti Zeituni will get kid glove treatment in comparison.
