Weekend Caption Contest™ Winners

This week’s Weekend Caption Contest™ was another smash hit, proving that a timely picture is always a good thing. The assignment this week was to caption the following picture:

PBS journalist and debate moderator Gwen Ifill and Democratic vice presidential nominee, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., left, shake hands at the end of his vice presidential debate with Republican rival, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, (not shown) Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in St. Louis, Mo. Here are the winning entries:

1) (Rodney Dill) – “I’m so pleased to meet the first mainstream African American moderator who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking woman.

2) (Gregory Rowe) – “Stand up Gwen. Let everybody see ya! Oh my, what am I talking about?

3) (twolaneflash) – “Barack sends his love, and your check’s in the mail.

4) (nehemiah) – “I hope I looked as good as George Washington did in his televised debate!

5) (retired military) – “Gwen those questions weren’t in the order you asked them last night at our practice session. Are you trying to torpedo our campaign?

6) (Jumpinjoe) – “Thanks Gwen for not asking about guns and abortion as pre coordinated. I feel like I dodged another bullet just like I did in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Readers Choice Award this week went to Rodney Dill’s winning entry. In its place I offer one more overlooked gem:

(MagicalPat) – “I was worried that you’d botox me into a corner.

That’s all for this weekend. A new edition of the Wizbang Weekend Caption Contest™ will debut Friday morning.
