I was woken up before dawn this morning to the the sound of my crying 9 month old son, and after getting him back to sleep, I thought I’d check out the internet for a few minutes since I was kind of awake anyway. That’s when I saw this Wall Street Journal article. It reported that Governor Palin requested that $453 Million in federal dollars for various projects, implying that these dollars came through the earmark process. My first thought was that governors can’t request earmarks.
Later in the morning I went to a number of my favorite blogs where I read Ed Morrissey’s take on this article. He also noted that governors can’t request earmarks, but on top of that, after doing the research the Wall Street Journal reporters won’t do, he found additional information that indicates Governor Palin, in fact, did not request earmarks.
