Robert Novak: McCain will announce his VP pick this week

This just was posted at Drudge. According to Robert Novak, John McCain will announce his VP pick this week:

Sources close to Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign are suggesting he will reveal the name of his vice presidential selection this week while Sen. Barack Obama is getting the headlines on his foreign trip. The name of McCain’s running mate has not been disclosed, but Mitt Romney has led the speculation recently.

I hope he does pick Romney. But I’d also be happy with Sarah Palin, but the MSM wouldn’t take her seriously because she’s a Republican woman.

Update: Andrew Malcolm at The Top of the Ticket is also reporting rumors that McCain’s VP announcement could happen very soon, as early as Tuesday. And he also adds to the speculation that it could be Romney:

Of course, any vice presidential nominee could fly into New Hampshire. But what’s already there close by? Hmm, Massachusetts is right next door. And, omg, so is its former Gov. Mitt Romney, who cleared the past primary financial decks last week by making his personal loans actual contributions.

Romney’s been campaigning relentlessly for weeks already for McCain and steering his national network of donors to donate generously, as The Ticket noted here the other day.

With the MSM in orgasms over Obama, this kind of announcement could undermine Obama’s momentum and break his rally giving McCain his own push of momentum through the rest of July, which only lasts another week, and into August. What comes next? The convention beginning September 1st.
