Firm which "peeked" at passport files headed by Obama adviser

As the brouhaha over someone “peeking” into the passport files of Presidential candidates Barack Obama, John McCain, and Hillary Clinton degenerates into mindless accusations, one interesting fact has emerged from the smoke thus far, reports Kate Bolduan for CNN:

The CEO of a company whose employee is accused of improperly looking at the passport files of presidential candidates is a consultant to the Barack Obama campaign, a source said Saturday.

Brennan briefed the media on behalf of the campaign this month.

The executive is a former senior CIA official and former interim director of the National Counterterrorism Center.

He contributed $2,300 to the Obama campaign in January.

When asked about the contribution, a State Department official told CNN’s Zain Verjee, “We ethically awarded contracts. Political affiliation is not one of the factors that we check.”

Read the whole story at the link above. It puts all the caterwauling by Obama’s camp about the Bush Administration into perspective, since it was the State Department which caught the contractors, and the contractor works for Obama.

It’s all much ado about nothing, since there is nothing sensitive in passport files anyway. All it amounted to was an excuse for Obama to talk about something besides his racist, America-hating pastor.
