Count Every Vote

NAACP leader wants barred Democrat delegates seated

A prominent civil rights leader has told the Democrat National Committee that refusing to seat delegates from Florida and Michigan would disenfranchise both states’ minority communities.

In a Feb. 8 letter to DNC Chairman Howard Dean, NAACP Chairman Julian Bond expressed ‘great concern at the prospect that millions of voters in Michigan and Florida could ultimately have their votes completely discounted.’ Refusing to seat the states’ delegations could remind voters of the ‘sordid history of racially discriminatory primaries,’ he said.

Chairman Bond has a good point, doesn’t he?

Which raises the following question, doesn’t it?

Why are the lily-white leaders of the Democrat National Committee so hell bent on disenfranchising minority voters — especially Florida Latinos — by excluding Michigan and Florida from the DNC’s nominating convention?

After all, wasn’t “count every vote” the liberal Democrat mantra as recently as December 2000?
