The Knucklehead of the Day award

Today’s winner is Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. He gets the award for the following.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination was her own fault, the country’s president, Pervez Musharraf, said in an interview that aired Sunday on U.S. television.

“For standing up outside the car, I think it was she to blame alone — nobody else. Responsibility is hers,” the former general told CBS’ “60 Minutes.”

Saying a murder victim is solely responsible for their death is just ridiculous. Dr. Taylor at Poliblog does an excellent job summing up Musharraf’s comments.

Not only is that a callous and unfair thing to say, but it strikes me as a politically maladroit thing to say

If the Pakistan President believes the words he said, you have to question his competence for political office. Statements like this are only going to inflame the opposition but more importantly those sitting on the fence in regards to Pakistan’s political future.

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf is today’s Knucklehead of the Day.
