There are rumors floating that a Gonzales resignation is likely. I agree with John Hawkins that a resignation would be counter productive. In the past, any admission of regret or any resignation has been portrayed to the public by Democrats and the media as proof of wrong doing, where in this case the big problem was not with the firings, but with how they were handled and communicated. If a Gonzales resignation would end the furor and allow us to “move on” to other matters without leaving the impression that the firings were improper, I might support it. Anyone paying attention the past six years knows that is not the effect it would have though.
