Teaching the wrong lessons

Oddly enough, after my earlier piece involving children and parents, I find this story5 about a mother getting in hot water because of something her kid did — in a roundabout way.

An elementary-school principal from Lowell, Massachusetts was visiting her son, currently a guest of the state of New Hampshire in a minimum-security prison. At that time, she arranged to get him a little Christmas present — some cigarettes, a lighter, and some chewing tobacco. The only problem is that they’re forbidden to prisoners, so they planned to have them left by the fence where he would recover them. Instead, officials caught him red-handed, and he’s been sent back to the Big House and faces big problems. Momma is also in hot water, facing felony charges and (according to one report I heard) being fired from her job.

Curse that infernal tobacco…
