Update on George Allen/Jim Webb race: From Fox News: The Allen campaign says that networks transposed raw vote totals, that Allen is up 5,000 votes.

According to Carl Cameron, in Louden county, a bigger and more conservative county, the registrar packed up and went home without counting all the ballots from the original count.

From the Llama Butchers:

12:10 AM Wednesday 1865 vote spread for Allen on the state’s website

Cue Twilight Zone music….

Bumped and Updated Webb pulls ahead of Allen by a few thousand votes with 99% of the precincts reporting. This race will go to a recount. Also, Fox calls Tennessee for Corker.

Fox News called Bob Casey the winner over Rick Santorum. That’s a gain for the Dhttp://wizbangblog.com/mt-static/images/formatting-icons/bold.gif
Boldems although it’s not unexpected. I don’t have the numbers yet.

Also Fox called Mendendez (52% 41,672) over Tom Keane Jr. (48% 38,446) but only 3% of the precincts are reporting.

Update: Fox News has called Sherrod Brown defeating Mike DeWine in Ohio. That sucks. He’s the second Tom Noe/Bob Taft casualty after Blackwell fell to Strickland. That means higher taxes here in Ohio.

Update II: Allen is up again in Virginia 50% – 49% with 65% precincts reporting. I don’t know if the liberal parts of VA, the northern areas and the DC suburbs, have reported yet.

Update III: In CT, Lieberman is leading Lamont 49% – 49% with 2% precincts reporting.

Update IV: Fox has just called the race for Lieberman.

Update V: Fox is calling Cardin over Steele in MD, although Steele is ahead by 11% with only 1% of the precincts reporting. What!? Are they going on flawed exit polls again? Fox just said that the decision desk is not relying on exit polls but are only using the numbers from the precincts. The only thing I can think of is that the numbers from Steele are coming from a heavily pro-Steele areas and that they expect Steele won’t maintain that lead in the other areas. Still, that’s big speculation with only 1% of the votes in.

Update VI: Fox projects that R Lincoln Chafee loses. As Brit Hume noted, his views were virtually identical to those of D Sheldon Whitehouse, but the loss is, nonetheless, not good news for Senate Republicans.

Update VII: Just when I thought Bouchard could pull it off, Debbie Stabenow was projected to hold her seat. Ugh. Lorie said her heartbreak of the night was Michael Steele, Mine was Mike Bouchard. He was gaining such momentum, I thought he could win. I’m sure he got all the rural areas of Michigan, which is almost the entire state, but certainly Stabenow, got Detroit. Unfortunately, as Detroit goes, so goes the entire state of Michigan.

Update VIII: Rep. Sen. Jim Talent is leading Dem Claire McCaskill 54%-43% with 29% of the votes in. Rep. Bob Corker is still ahead of Harold Ford, Jr. 51%-47% with 69% of the votes in. No one has called either of these seats when the Republicans have comfortable leads but called others that were much tighter where Democrats were leading.

Also Rep. Sen. George Allen is leading Dem. Jim Webb with a 28,000 vote lead with 95% of votes in. Again, Fox isn’t calling this because of outstanding precincts that either are not in or are too close too call. Michael Barone this race will probably trigger a recount and go to court, especially if the Senate leadership is in the balance.

Update IX: Senator John Ensign has defeated Jimmy Carter’s son, Dem. Jack Carter in Nevada.

Update X: Both Democrats Daniel Akaka and Dianne Feinstein have kept their seats. Akaka’s win may be surprising, but Feinstein’s sure wasn’t.
