Hat tip to Mitchell, who saw this picture at the Drudge Report.
By the way — the headline is a joke (kinda like the one Kerry claims he was telling, except not as lame). I don’t think our troops are stupid, as anyone who has ever read me knows.
Update: Kim and Jay posted above about Kerry’s “apology.” Smash isn’t accepting it and shows what a real apology would look like.
Unfortunately, a lot of the media the troops get is censored so it’s not likely they’ll find out that Kerry was not talking about them but instead talking about how an ill-informed president got them their holding that banner.
You guys can only hope to win using lies and mis-information. What does that say about you? Is this how you teach your children Lorie?
A Kerry spokeswoman, Amy Brundage, said later that the senator’s prepared text had called for him to say: “Do you know where you end up if you don’t study, if you aren’t smart, if you’re intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush.”
They aren’t stupid. I know you’re saying that in fun Lorie, but I have to speak up for the Democrats who know that to be true as well. Since Kerry was representing my political party when he made those comments, as a Democrat I feel the need to apologize to our men and women in the armed services on behalf of Democrats everywhere.
I am very glad that Kerry stuck his foot in his mouth yesterday, because I am extremely embarrassed by his remarks and his behavior afterwards. Hopefully this guy will be put out to pasture after this. I’ll do my part to make that happen, and hopefully other Democrats will join in that effort.
All that is necessary for Republicans to win is to get out the Democratic message, which seems to be:
“We can’t even get a stupid stump speech right. Why would you trust us to run the country?”
Kerry, by the way, has gone back into hiding back in Washington, D.C.
He cut and ran from the campaign once the going got a little tough. What does that say about his willingness to stand up to those who mean to do our country real harm?
I read dumb people
Then, obviously, the Senator can’t read.
And Lee, you have nothing to apologize for. Kerry is the one who made the comment and needs to apologize for it.
Oh wow Lorie called the troops stupid! How degrading how mean spirited… I know you retracted it later in your post but you obviously think the troops are stupid cause you said so…..
Lets post Lorie’s comments all over the blogosphere,
Tonight’s top story in the blogosphere,
Lorie Byrd stated
“They may be stupid…”
Speaking of the troops has brought controversy over the world wide web. It is apparent that the right wing conservatives believe the troops are stupid……blah blah blah blah…..
@ Lee
I am extremely embarrassed by his remarks and his behavior afterwards
So, you still want to lose though, right?
Lee, what Sarge said. And I think you will have lots of help. I am expecting that Kerry’s calendar is going to open up a little bit from here on until at least Nov. 8.

When then, let us see a copy of the prepared text.
As for lies and mis-information, how can you POSSIBLY make that statement with catching a whiff of that hypocrisy stench?
Wasn’t it Kerry who stated that US troops were raping and terrorizing Iraqis? Wasn’t it Kerry who then couldn’t produce proof of these atrocities?
Shucks .. if you want mis-information, go to the Huffington Post where they have yet to turn down a headline that they couldn’t twist.
Puh-lease, dude.
“And Lee, you have nothing to apologize for. Kerry is the one who made the comment and needs to apologize for it.”
I agree. Lee, thank you for your sentiments regarding Kerry. You are one Democrat who recognizes the dishonor Kerry brings to your party. You guys deserve better than him.
As for Muirgeo – Go to Hell! Is that blah blah blah enough for you, you PIECE OF SHIT!
“And Lee, you have nothing to apologize for. Kerry is the one who made the comment and needs to apologize for it.”
I disagree. Democrat Kerry was representing me (in a sense) while he was speaking. He may still apologize, I hope he does, but meanwhile any Democrat who doesn’t apologize in his behalf is letting the misunderstood remarks stand.
I think we all know Kerry didn’t mean it the way it sounded, but since others were hurt and angered by his remarks, an apology is in order. That’s just the touchy-feely Democrat in me talking, so take it for what it’s worth.
Lee
Is that you? I didn’t think you would ever say anything like that. I had to look up to see if the sky was falling. Good job though. Both sides should never just blindly follow their leaders no matter what.
>
So now Muirgeo is telling us that Kerry doesn’t know how to read!!!
You guys just keep on digging deeper in your lies….
Muirgeo: Talk about childishness … your remarks about Lorie’s post are, well, exactly that.
Lee, thanks for that.
To all of the apologists for Kerry, a sickening breed.

Funny is only funny if it is funny.
Lee…I take back HALF the bad things I said about you!! 🙂
Semper Fi folks!!
Rudyard Kipling’s “Tommy” ends with this refrain…
You talk o’ better food for us, an’ schools, an’ fires an’ all:
We’ll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don’t mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
But it’s “Saviour of ‘is country,” when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
But Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool – you bet that Tommy sees!
They get it. Thank God Karl Rove has Kerry on his payroll. I still think he’s seriously underpaid though. ;p
Heh.
Thanks, Lori. Got good chuckles out of the family down here in NC (where we are all poor, stoopid rednecks doing Bush’s dirty work, no less).
They are stuck in Iraq ………
1) we’re staying the course remember.
2) we were there to uncover wmd’s and none were found. Why are we still stuck there?
3) terrorists were found in London having planned the subway bombing….Why aren’t we fighting in England? Aren’t we supposed to be fighting the war on terror? They are in England…..why don’t we invade England.
4) neo CONS who believe the lies this administration has put forth as reasons why we are “stuck in Iraq” such as wmd’s, spreading democracy, fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them over here must find a way to absolve their guilt while kids get killed for their energy needs. WHy not start by doing some sacrificing yourself?
You really want to get serious about the war on terror? Start today by cutting back your consumption of energy in the form of electricity, gas, hot water, plastic bags, shampoo, fabric made from petrochemical products, just about anything you use. Stop being greedy and consumptive and start lobbying your congressman for an end to fossil fuel consumption as we have known it.
Otherwise you have nothing to say about why these kids are stuck in Iraq. It’s time to recognize WHY they are stuck in Iraq, otherwise you are too stupid to understand the complexity of the problem that Kerry is in fact alluding to.
Of course, why would I expect a right wing religious supporter to give a hoot.
civil behavior obviously hasn’t read any of the documents, which received bi-partisan support, regarding why we’re in Iraq. WMD’s weren’t the major issue, champ.
Beyond that, reducing energy consumption isn’t the only thing we’re battling, here.
Do something more than parrot the weak DNC talking points which have been destroyed time and again, wouldja’? That lame-ass shit gets boring.
muirgeo, Lorie was being facetious (you should look that word up) and merely playing along with what your hero and god said….
Speaking of stuck, civil behavior, you obviously have your head stuck up your ass. As yo said, you’re incredibly ignorant about why we’re in Iraq to begin with. But it appears you’re incredibly ignorant all-around anyway, being blinded by your own light. Since I’m a “right wing religious supporter” you’re going to discount any opinion I have anyway. That’s very dangerous– stereotyping and discounting a particular group. So much for liberal tolerance… you fool.
Saw this on WSJ website, re stupidity of John F’n Kerry:
“How many feet can John Kerry fit in that mouth of his? Here he is on “Imus in the Morning” today:
Kerry: These guys have failed America. The people who owe an apology are people like Donald Rumsfeld, who didn’t send enough troops, who didn’t listen to the generals, who has made every mistake in the book. . . .
Imus: . . . Senator John McCain, he seems to think–he seems to agree with the Bush administration about your comments. And you know him, obviously, better than I do, but I know him pretty well. And he probably knows what you meant, too.
Kerry: I’m sorry that John McCain has said what he said. John McCain’s been a friend for a long time. But I have to tell you, I think John McCain is wrong about this.
John McCain has been a cheerleader for a policy that is incorrect. John McCain says we ought to send another 100,000 troops over there. First of all, we don’t have another 100,000 troops. Secondly, if you send them over there, it’s going to do exactly what’s already happened, which is attract more terrorists and more jihadists. Our own generals are telling us that it’s the numbers of troops that are the problem.
So the administration didn’t send enough troops and it sent too many troops? If only we had such a decisive, principled leader as president!
anyone else ever read John Cole over at Balloon Juice? http://www.balloon-juice.com/ His views as a real Republican stand in contrast to those who believe Bush/Rush are the voice of the Republican Party…
Civil Behavoir-
Thanks for sharing your assumptions. Just for you, I will take some unnecessary car trips today, with a couple of needless u-turns thrown in for good measure.
Also, I am going on record to proclaim that we are stuck in Minneapolis, Houston, Los Angeles, and many American cities where people are murdered every day. After all, by trying to stop the murders we are only creating more murderers. We should redeploy all of our big city police forces to the suburbs.
“You really want to get serious about the war on terror?”
The problem isn’t dependence on oil, it’s dependence on FOREIGN oil, especially in countries ruled by despots and religious zealots.
“Of course, why would I expect a right wing religious supporter to give a hoot?”
Exactly! Your mention of people not understanding the “complexity” of the ME situation like Kerry does is very rich. In your worldview, I imagine complexity means leaving evil people to do whatever they want until they get near your neighborhood, then squealing for help.
Why the hell should I believe from you, nogo postal, about what a “real Republican” is? Is that just someone who won’t call you an idiot when you talk like one. I won’t tell you ehat a “real Democrat” is. Moron.
civil behavior and muirgeo are the typical liberal sissy “let’s keep feeding the aligator hoping it eats us last” dipshits. I hope they get sterilized by accident the next time they visit the dentist.
ya know Kerry screwed up his delivery…he is not the only one ya know
http://www.slate.com/id/76886/
civil behavior, how do you power your computer? cause if it is not wind or solar or hamster in a wheel power, I suggest you shut the fuck up until you start to practice what you preach. but then I guess that would go against all your liberal ideals, you know, do as I say, not as I do.
Funny there’s no mock outrage in here about the fact that the Iraqi PM ordered our troops to take down the checkpoints that we setup to look for our MIA soldier in Baghdad. This proves that all of you 101st Fighting Keyboardists and chest-thumping “patriots” couldn’t really give a d— about events that actually do have an impact on the troops in Iraq.
Kerry’s poorly delivered joke about Bush’s stupidity pales in comparison to the damage the incompetent leadership of Bush and Rumsfeld have done to our military and our national security with this miserable unending debacle in Iraq. Maybe if Bush had spent a little more time studying in college than partying he would have come across a text on Middle East history and discovered what happens when Western powers try to occupy Arab countries and force their will on them.
But the last thing you Kerry-feeding-frenzy bloggers want to do is actually discuss what’s happening on the ground in Iraq. Your concern is only to protect your precious Republican majorities in the House and Senate. And the only way you can do that is by diverting everyone’s attention from the daily grind of mayhem and destruction that is dragging that country in the abyss with our troops caught in the crossfire.
Posted by: nogo postal at November 1, 2006 03:35 PM
Where’s the quote where Bush fumbles through a quote and insults the entire Armed Forces?
I must have missed that.
Again, I thought kerry was so damn intellectual that he didn’t make flubs – or, did he make them in Cambodia before he didn’t make them in Cambodia? I must not be smart enough to understand Sen. Kerry cuz all his shit seems senseless to me.
Moreso: Kerry says he flubbed the delivery, but I’m kinda’ thinking he didn’t.
kaz,
what do you care whether our troops are caught in the crossfire?
“But the last thing you Kerry-feeding-frenzy bloggers want to do is actually discuss what’s happening on the ground in Iraq.”
We don’t have the time with all the liberals running around loose shooting off their stupidity….
The “Red Bulls”, 1/34 BCT Minnesota National Guard, currently deployed in Iraq
US Iraqi security force goal was 325,000. They reached that goal, but now Gen. Casey wants 100,000 more and Rummy will ask for an additional 1-Billion for training. Are you telling me that Iraq does not have one goddamn soldier that can stand up, so one of ours can stand down?
Meanwhile, over 14,000 small arms are missing, and the civil war keeps getting worst.
Sounds like “stuck” to me.
Barney, if you hate the US so much, just move to canada. they don’t have an army to get “stuck”.
Stuck in Iraq? Every soldier there has signed up or resigned up since the Iraq war started, knowing very well deployment to Iraq was probably inevitable.
If you don’t agree with or appreciate what these men and women do, leave them alone. There will be one day when you might need their sacrifice somewhere else, a place you approve–only YOUR yard, we know…but they will come, just because you are American. You don’t have to be for the war, but stay out of the way of those that want to win.
steak111111 and Diane, you are correct. The our soldiers are not “stuck” in Iraqi. The Air Force just asked for an additional $50-billion in funding to cover the cost of sending their dead bodies back to the US.
They are just stuck in the ground.
Kerry has just apoligized so thankfully we can now get back to debating the real issue here: the war in Iraq.
My question for all you veterans of the 101st Fighting Keyboardists is: Why does it make America safer to have our troops caught in the crossfire of a bloody civil war in Iraq between Sunnis and Shiites who have been at each other’s throats for centuries?
How do we “win” the civil war in Iraq? Do we win if the Sunnis are victorious or is it the Shiites?
“..soldier there has signed up or resigned..” Posted by: Diane
Def., resigned – showing utter resignation or hopelessness; “abject surrender”
Sounds like a Kerry joke.
We win by killing as many goddamn terrorists as we can. And make sure their stinking asses don’t come over here to kill you, and us.
I assume you weren’t for the war, before you were against it? What about Afghanistan?
It’s not a civil war. It’s a hoodlum and terrorist war. And we need more troops to kill each and every one of them. Kill them before they hop on a plane with an exploding shoe, or a box cutter, or something else they’ll event, and we won’t be able to stop, when they get near us.
Kaz,
Kerry did apologize, but it was still a snooty, feckless statement; but, why nitpick?
Anyway, you’re question regarding Iraq is, like most seemingly inquisitive(rhetorical) questions offered by the Left, bullshit. You’re mixing issues. And you’re trying to get some yahoo to paint himself into the corner of a situation which can’t be easily explained. Even if this particular yahoo is absolutely correct in his/her response, you’ll still find some nit to pick then get indignant and declare a victory you haven’t won by repeating DNC talking points.
I’d recommend reorganizing your question into something a bit more open for debate.
Not to mention that you’re off topic, in this thread.
“Kerry has just apoligized”
Just a few questions….
1) He apologized for his gaff – or to the troops?
2) He apologized before or after he didn’t apologize?
3) He apologized because hiLIARy threatened to throw pots and pans at him?
4) Did Murtha get paid for his apology?
Just wondering….
He apologized Meatball. Now you’re looking like a fool for not letting it go.
Not to be outdone, Bush has decided to insult the troops as well.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061101/pl_nm/iraq_bush_dc_3
Blaming the troops? how about this
GOP HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER JOHN BOEHNER: Let’s not blame what’s happening in Iraq on Rumsfeld.
WOLF BLITZER: But he’s in charge of the military.
BOEHNER: But the fact is, the generals on the ground are in charge, and he works closely with them and the president.
So..Boehner blames the troops..the uniform the never wore for what is going wrong…
seriously…does this even bother anyone…?
Yep blame it on those fighting and dying…
(Kerry’s crap is nothing compared to this)
CHANNEL 5 is looking for military families to comment on the photo taken of the 1/34th.
Please contact: Tim Sherno 651-642-4488.
(we will post a thank you once we’ve found someone to save you the trouble of calling if we have already found our interview. Thanks!)
Robert, you are dumber than Lee.
Lee ranks right up near your #1 though.
Now, now .. Robert. If anything, keeping Rumsfeld might be considered punishing the troops, not insulting them.
Someone needs the Dummy’s Guide for Turning clever Phrases, or something.

Context.
It’s all about context and conveying the context within your point.
Typical lefist bullshit quote sniping.
When will you guys learn how to make a decent argument?
