I really feel bad for pointing this out, because Tucker Carlson deserves a lot of credit for having the guts to do Dancing with the Stars, but on the debut of Season 3 he got the lowest score of the night, a 12. I missed the show so I have nothing to say about his performance, except that I hope enough viewers voted for Tucker that I will get a chance to see him return next week. Viewers vote by phone and internet and their votes are combined with those of the judges to produce the final score.
Update: Newsbusters has the video. (Hat tip to Hot Air)
Update 9/13: Viewers evidently agreed with the judges and Tucker was the first contestant eliminated in Wednesday night’s show.
I tuned in to watch Tucker and Sara Evans. Tucker wasn’t very good, but I still want him to remain because I’d like to see him in some other dances!
Okay, maybe I’m going all “Loose Change” paranoia here, but did anyone notice the female judge who was telling Sara she didn’t do well, then said something like she was too “conservative”…I mean I know it was referring to her dancing, but I’ve never heard her use that term before to anyone else. And since it’s all the talk (even at Kos) that she’s Tom Delay’s pal, and he’s encouraging everyone to vote for her, it just seems too much of a coincidence. In fact, I thought all the judges were a little harsh and unfriendly with her.
Lorie did you notice that?
P.S. Not that any of this matters. Just found it curious.
And Emmitt Smith was great. I thought Harry Hamlin would be better.
Okay, I’ll go get a life now – lol.
Ooops Lorie, I missed the part where you said you didn’t watch, so you wouldn’t know. Sorry.
Jo,
I really wish I had seen it. I looked for the video at YouTube and some other sites, but didn’t find it anywhere yet. If anyone has a link to video from tonight’s show, please post it in the comments. Thanks.
I just found links to the video and posted it in an update.
I just watched the video. The crowd was with Tucker last night. When the Simon Cowell wannabe judge was really critical about Tucker’s dancing, the crowd booed him. I would love to see Tucker do a few more dances.
Tucker did better than I thought he would. I thought Jerry Springer was terrible, but they gave him a higher score. That judge did use the word “conservative,” but really, she was right. Sara was good but would be better if she loosens up a bit. Same with Harry Hamlin. Emmitt Smith was great, and so was Mario Lopez, and one of the other guys that danced at the first–Joey Lawrence. They were all very good and blew the judges away. You only get 30 minutes after the show to vote by phone, and I was gone and watched it by tape and didn’t realize that, so I only got to vote online. You got 11 votes last night–one time for each contestant, so I assume there will be one less vote each week.
Tucker really didn’t do very well. You have to give him a lot of credit for trying but he really wasn’t much of a dancer. Even Jerry Springer did better and he has a big age disadvantage. Tucker doesn’t really strike one as being overly athletic anyway.
My wife, who loves this stuff and isn’t political at all, really felt sorry for Tucker. If you missed it last night you won’t get another chance because poor Tucker will be gone. Nice try, though.
I think Harry froze because of the possibility of comparisons with his wife. But let’s be very realistic – incredible dimples and that backfield in motion? Who wouldn’t vote for Lopez or Smith?
I woke up depressed this morning, hit the DVR and replayed Mario’s moves and came to work with a smile on my face. Yes, indeed, I did. Even 64 year old women have shallow moments!
Am I the only one who thinks it odd that a “journalist” is on “Dancing with the Stars”? I mean, “journalists” aren’t supposed to be celebrities, they’re supposed to be journalists.
The show started out as a fun idea. But the LLL’s have now politicized it and are stuffing the ballot boxes.
For all intents and purposes the show is now dead. I give it 2 more rounds of dancers and out thanks to the LLL’s.
One thing I do find funny is that the LLL’s are so eager to eliminate all who oppose them that they will stoop to stuffing the ballot box on what is essentially a game show. Shows you just how desperate they are and how nothing to them is not political. The LLL’s are some very unhappy and unstable people.
I admit it: Condolezza Rice is a great piano player!
But, let’s face it…Tucker Carlson is a lousy dancer.
A political decision about Tucker Carlson?
