A Hero Laid To Rest In Peace

Hang Right Politics posted a moving account of a reader who drove hours to join the Patriot Guard Riders to protect the family of a fallen hero in New Mexico from protesters.

It was with great dismay that I read in the Sunday edition of our largest newspaper that the “fundamentalist Westboro Baptist Church” (the quote is from the newspaper) planned to protest at Sgt Segura’s funeral. “Why here: why him?” I lamented. “He was on his second tour of duty in Iraq. He was awarded the Purple Heart in 2004 and the Bronze Star this year.”

A call went out from the Patriot Guard Riders in West Texas and all of New Mexico to head to Clovis. I went. Follow the link to read the moving account of his experience.
