Case in point, check out his interview with Congressman Robert Wexler. I enjoy cocaine and the company of prostitutes because its a fun thing to do! mesablue July 25, 2006 The best part of that whole thing is Wexler thinking that he’s going to come off well and Colbert telegraphing his thought that he couldn’t believe that Wexler would let himself be made such a fool. OC Chuck July 25, 2006 Ouch! Is this guy so dumb as to repeat those things? SilverBubble July 25, 2006 “So you’re in favor of invading Kuwait?” I can’t believe Colbert got him to say all that stuff. Darby July 25, 2006 Redeploying the troops in a peaceful fashion, in a friendly fashion… Which is what the military is best at? Aaa… *pauses for a moment* No. I swear to god, I just about died laughing the first time I saw that bit. Oyster July 25, 2006 I often wondered just how hard it would be to be a rep for a district where the average age is deceased. I mean, these people are too weak to punch all the way through a pre-perforated ballot. dries July 25, 2006 Oyster – my thoughts exactly. Wexler was among loudest supporters of Al Gore during 2000 Florida debacle. I was wondering how people who repeatedly vote Wexler in, allegedly made so may mistakes voting for either candidate in’00. I saw that interview ( Florida’s flag was a nice touch). What Colbert did was truly amazing & Wexler will never be allowed to live it down. B. Minich July 25, 2006 Wow, that was awesome. I loved where he just interjects “I’m the representative of Mothers-in-Law everywhere.” Huh?!?!!? Colbert’s interviews are great – he plays the straight man asking strange questions, really, and gets his interviewee to be his counterpart. The results are so hilarous when they work. Buckeye Guy July 25, 2006 Bombed at the White House Press Corp Dinner? As determined by whom? If you count the number of downloads on iTunes for the video and read anything other than neoconservative blogs, his performance was anything but a bomb. Can you ever step away from your neoconservative bias in the name of fairness? Just once? I’m beggin’ ya. fustian July 25, 2006 Colbert bombed in the opinion of the liberal media in attendance. They did him the favor of not mentioning him next day in the press. It was all the moonbats that thought Colbert’s unfunny and rude recitation of leftist talking points were some sort of telling truth to power moment. Colbert did not say a single funny thing at the Correspondents dinner. He’s nothing but a creepy little man. And Wexler is a moron to have stood for this. Nick July 25, 2006 He bombed at the dinner because no one there laughed at his jokes. Which is kinda the definition of bombing. THat invertview, however, was awesome. The people(most at least) at the dinner didn’t laugh because the jokes were all pointed at them, or at people they wouldn’t want to be caught laughing at(like say, the president). He knew the response he would get, and the popularity of his performance draws off of the reaction of the crowd. Also, he had the balls to do all this not 5 feet away from the president. I can’t think of anything much more ballsy than that honestly. Also, Robert Wexler thought(and thought wrong, because of assclowns like you) that since he is on the Colbert Report, and on Comedy Central(credibility up the wazoo), that people would realize it’s a joke and note that he has the condifence to play along. On top of ALL of this, Colbert is playing a character. You, if anyone, are a moron to take his show seriously.
