Excellent news in American sports:
PARIS – Floyd Landis won the Tour de France on Sunday, keeping cycling’s most prestigious title in American hands for the eighth straight year.
The 30-year-old Landis cruised to victory on the Champs-Elysees, a day after regaining the leader’s yellow jersey and building an insurmountable lead in the final time trial.
“Never stop believing,” said Landis from atop the victory podium.
He picked up where another American left off just last year, when Lance Armstrong completed his seventh and final Tour triumph. Including three wins by Greg Lemond (1986, 1989, 1990), Americans have won the race 11 of the last 21 times.

Nows here’s a sport to beat the Euro-Weenies at!
The best part is that it is making the French see red!
Now if we could only make more progress in the Middle East Triathalon (Hizbullah, Hamas, AQ).
The French can’t get a break. Yee-haaa!
French sad. Me happy.
How ’bout that? A man with a degenerative hip condition wins the Tour.
Take that You limp wristed Kerry types..
The French will find evidence of doping in six or seven years from now. That will prove he cheated!

Conservatives might well want to listen to exactly how the Tour de France winner feels about the prospect of speaking to the King of the Morons Who Voted for Him:
Reporter: :Is that Bush?”
Landis (laughing): “I doubt it. I’ll hang up”.

Hes American not French. nuff said!
Interesting that all the America winners of the Tour de France have all had major health problems at one time or another. Greg Lemond came back to win the tour after being shot while out bird hunting, Lance Armstrong won after battling back from cancer and Floyd Landis has a bad hip that needs replacement. I guess this is due to trying to handicape the US riders to make it fair for the other riders.
Another interesting fact is since the US started to win the Tour de France, no Frenchman has won. Coincidence? The last French winner was Bernard Hinault in 1985. Greg lemond won in 1986 and since then, the US has won 11 times and the French zero. Danmark even one once for the first time in 1996 and germany for the first time in 1997 and the French, nada. Just another fact to shove in the nose of the French.
Herman (is that as in Munster?)
Not as bad as demonstrating against Amerika as some black atheletes did at the Olympics a few decades ago. In fact, pretty apolitical – they were in the middle of discussing a bad day of the race. Hey, and since the USPS isn’t the main sponsor, might there be a little overall resentment against the US government? Overall Herman, pretty shoddy comment to throw partisan politics into a little nationistic crowing.
nationalistic
Apparently, Herman needs reminding that America is not the same as George W. Bush.
One can cheer on America without necessarily supporting Dubya. Similarly, one can denigrate France and not support Dubya. Both are things that too much of the Left has apparently forgotten.
Herman:
I could care less about what any athlete or entertainer thinks about politics. And as for the “…King of the Morons who voted for him…” statement, how stupid do you and your lefty buddies feel for not being able to beat him? Twice?
Oh yeah, I forgot. Get bent.
Landis is from my state, just a few counties over and down from me. Yay Amishland!
Yeah USA!!! F&$# Yeah!
The way Landis won the tour was the most amazing and American thing.
To come from so far behind that everyone else had written him off and to demolish the field (the other teams were begging him to back off) on one of the toughest mountain stages of the race — 130 miles in ninety degree heat up three huge mountains to set him up to win the race in the time trial — truly monumental. Not to mention the pain he fights through everyday with the hip problem.
Landis is the perfect follow-up to Lance.
The French are going to have to keep changing the rules (they do every year) if they are ever going to win this thing again.
What’s the big deal? It’s not a real sport like golf.
Ho HO!
