I can’t help but think this is a tactical error. Kerry has made a commercial (tacitly) attacking Bush for running the Swift boat ads. The ad is simply video of John McCain saying in 2000:
“Let me tell you what really went over the line. Governor Bush had an event, and he paid for it, and standing, and stood next to the spokesman for a fringe veterans group.
I agree with what you write here.
The Kerry “ad” and that Press Release (your link) really do read as appeasements only, as Kerry nearly (?) apologizing to Demos.
He’s certainly on the defensive, appears to be trying to put out the fires among the Demos, more than anything. They (the Demos, Kerry campaign) truly have little as to meaningful criticism here — instead, they continue to rely on “Republicans did this, Bush and Republicans did that, it’s a Republican conspiracy…”
You forgot one:
The reason whoever the hell said Senator McCain “abandoned” the veterans was because he, and Kerry, did a complete whitewash of POW/MIAs in Vietnam, allowing the Washington money to flow to that communist government’s coffers.
Story here.
I think this is a potentially sticky/explosive tack to take.
This is now the second ad in one week where the Kerry camp is using McCain’s words against Bush, even though McCain is clearly supporting Bush.
I’m not sure how this is going to pan out, but I think it has big potential to blow up.
Anything to distract from a booring 20 year record or public service is what the left wants.
This is the lesser of two bad records, so why not go with one that you can say is just bad politics.
If John Kary’s real public service record ever comes out, no one will ever vote for him.
you’ve got a really good point there… i’m not bald, i shave my head, ok?
