Imagine, for just a moment, if Bush had done this... what do you think the outcry would've been?
The White House Press Office has refused to give the Boston Herald full access to President Obama's Boston fund-raiser today, in e-mails objecting to the newspaper's front page placement of a Mitt Romney op-ed, saying pool reporters are chosen based on whether they cover the news "fairly."
"I tend to consider the degree to which papers have demonstrated to covering the White House regularly and fairly in determining local pool reporters," White House spokesman Matt Lehrich wrote in response to a Herald request for full access to the presidential visit.
"My point about the op-ed was not that you ran it but that it was the full front page, which excluded any coverage of the visit of a sitting US President to Boston. I think that raises a fair question about whether the paper is unbiased in its coverage of the President's visits," Lehrich wrote.
That comes our way via The Anchoress' FB page where she writes pointedly:
Tell me again how Bush was the child/nazi/oblique/punishing/crony-loving suppressor of free speech (remember the uproar when Ari Fleisher said, after 9/11, "be careful what you say?). I will not hold my breath waiting for the usual suspects to carry on about the heavy-handedness of this administration. Seems they only see it when they want to.

They banned so-called liberal-biased media outlets like the San Francisco Chronicle so they can be deemed "fair" when they ban Fox News and the right wing conservatively-biased news outlets like the Herald... which, by definition -- neither of which are "news outlets" so much as they are "propaganda outlets".
And the WH should have every right to ban the Herald as well as Fox News and the SF Chronicle. All you have to do is read one of these rags and you can see that it's all biaed - left or right.

So? station your reporters and photographers outside the fundraiser and snap shots of folks going in. Shout interview questions at donors. Annoy the press office with FOIA requests. Cover Obama appointees' activities -- in detail -- in the Boston market. (Not at Boston Market). If the Obama administration thinks you're annoying, then give them something to cry about.

Rick, Of course the lefties would have howled and screamed if President Bush had done the same thing.
As clearly demonstrated here by james H, the left lives by double-standards. Its perfectly reasonable for President Obama to do this. James even wants people to waste time filing FOIA requests which will continue to be stonewalled and ignored by this administration. But thats OK with hin too, right up until the time when we have a president who is not a Democrat.
The anchoress's last line sums up James H and the lefties pretty well.

Well I imagine the reaction would be, he's doing it again. Given that Bush Routinely denied access to those who dared give him unfavorable press.
A better question is what would the far right do if Bush did this? Not a damn thing of course. No article on wizbang certainly.
It's only when Obama does it that it becomes wrong.

The state controlled media screamed bloody murder when Nixon was found to have an enemies list. Guess who was on that list? If you all guessed the major players in the state controlled media, go to the head of the line. Isn't Barry doing the same thing as Nixon? One would surly think so, but the state controlled media just shrugs it shoulders and say "Oh well."
