Omgomgomgomg! Best bit of news I have had in a LONG time. Jewel Staite for The Wasp! Hopefully they allow him some casting decisions so they get people who can act in the movie, as opposed to look pretty, to play some of the characters
A little OT, any idea who the Bad is gonna be? Ultron? Red Skull's Skeleton Krew?

MunDane, the rumors I've heard are Nathan Fillion for Ant-Man, Eva Longoria for Wasp, and nothing on the villain. Confirmed, though:
Captain America: Chris Evans
Thor: Chris Hemsworth
Hulk (well, Bruce Banner): Mark Ruffalo
Iron Man: Robert Downey, Jr.
Black Widow: Scarlett Johannsson
Hawkeye: Jeremy Renner
War Machine: Don Cheadle
Nick Fury: Samuel L. Jackson
Personally, I thought Edward Norton was a suberb Bruce Banner, but I'll give Ruffalo a try. I dunno if Fillion would be playing Hank Pym or Scott Lang. And Eva Longoria as Wasp? My initial skepticism has been set aside -- she plays a former high fashion model on "Desperate Housewives," and is great at that, so I think she could pull off Janet Van Dyne/Pym.
As much as I love Jewel Staite, I still hold out hopes for her as Kitty Pryde. Whatshername from "Juno" did good, but I think Staite could play a more adult Kitty quite well.

Actually, you know who would make a better Hawkeye? David Boreanaz.
The big problem with this movie is gonna be the teamwork. The Avengers never fought someone who could be bested by one of their powers alone. In a comic, this means you share panel space, which means the artist mutters imprecations under his/her breath about the scripter. In a movie, this means sharing screen time, which to most stars is akin to sunrise on a vampire.

With the cast you mentioned, I don't anticipate a lot of ego-trampling. Downey, Cheadle and Johannson have already worked well together, and seem to be solid team players in other films that I've seen them in. (Especially Downey in 'Tropic Thunder' where he had to work alongside of Stiller and Black. Cheadle had the "Ocean's" films where he had to distinguish himself alongside the likes of Clooney, Pitt, etc.) As long as the script gives them the opportunity to contribute something to the 'Avengers', they'll be fine. As for the others, I only wonder about Jackson. Will he be there just for the paycheck or will he be able to deliver a performance which we can distinguish from his usual film persona?

Honestly, I have no idea what "The Avengers" is.
If it makes you happy, I hope it exceeds your delight.
But, Jay. I say this knowing you are higher in rank here than I:
Never, NEVER, EVER AGAIN speak of your "nipples" at Wizbang again.
I will now go hang myself by my thumbs to help erase this thought from my memory.

First, Shawn is right. NO NIPPLE REFERENCES EVER.
Second, the only AVENGERS of ANY MEANING are the Steed/Peel AVENGERS. Comic books, pooh.
