I've been a long time believer in balance in the government. For the bast years I have voted, where I did not know of a candidate's positions, I looked at the slate and would vote democrat, if it would balance out an excess of republicans, vote for a woman, if it would balance out an excess of men.
Now, unless the republican candidate is a complete sleeze, I'm determined to just vote down the line. I'm sick of the democrats just completely screwing us. Their actions are likely doing the same changes to other moderate conservatives like me.

Let me note that I'm disappointed in the results.
But then, I'm of the opinion that the majority of the public, as reflected in polls and elsewhere, oppose Obamacare.
BUT, here's the problem: The Dems are voting for it.
Why?
I can see only a few answers:
1. There are a lot of suicidal folks in the Dem party, folks who are so committed to the Party that they'll not just take one for the team, but will self-immolate their careers on its behalf.
That says a lot about the Dems, and puts the GOP to shame in terms of solidarity.
2. There are a lot of delusional folks in the Dem party. They absolutely believe that the people actually support Obamacare, and that the protests are as meaningful (to them) as the anti-war/peacenik protestors were against Reagan or Dubya.
In which case, November 2010 and 2012 will wake them up.
3. There are neither delusional nor suicidal folks in the Dem party. Their internal polls (politicians' polls are usually MUCH more accurate than those of the MSM) indicate either that this will blow over, or the population back home really does support Obamacare, or Obamacare is irrelevant to how folks will vote.
In which case, there'd better be a Republican Plan-B for November.
Here's hoping the Tea Party movement keeps up the passion. Here's hoping they can help protect Dems who voted "No" (they'll need it, given the nasty ways of Obama). Here's hoping they can mobilize the forces to beat out Dems who voted "Yes" in primaries, and Republicans in cases where the former doesn't happen.
B/c it never pays to assume your opponent's stupid or delusional.

#7,
Clearly, in aggregate, the Dems don't realize that they've broken the social contract.
They are systematically destroying the social contract by dismissing the consent of the governed.
They have done so on many levels; economically, with unsustainable and massive deficits that are mathematically certain to bankrupt this country. Socially, by forcing pro-life Americans to pay for other people's abortions. Constitutionally, by making people purchase health-care insurance, regardless of personal circumstance.
They now propose to use the IRS to enforce compliance with the mandatory purchasing of health care insurance. The 'Borg' have arrived and 'Resistance is futile'.
This is going to decimate the health care system in this country and they are actively nationalizing the economy.
"If the public are bound to yield obedience, to laws to which they cannot give their approbation, they are slaves to those who make such laws and enforce them." -Candidus in the Boston Gazette, 1772

Actually, Nancy hopes it will all blow over after the vote today. Which isn't going to happen. There's still the House "fix". Then there are two states ready to file lawsuits, with 35 others right behind. Then others to file lawsuits on the 'mandate'.
THIS IS ONLY BEGINNING! Nancy wanted the troops to slide into election mode crowing victory. That won't be sounds of crowing she'll be hearing.

Yes, we do need to do our version of 'remember the alamo' and we will, you can count on it. I visit a lot of blogs and the anger is deeply palpable.
Plus, as fustian points out, up next is amnesty for illegals, then cap and trade, then card check, etc, etc. Obama isn't going to let up and will resort to the Slaughter Rule in the House and reconciliation in the Senate to impose his agenda upon the nation.
So Obama is going to keep feeding the fire, dragging the Dems over the cliff.
What that means is total political war, take no prisoners, hand to hand political combat in DC. They are tearing up the social contract. Clearly they have no idea what they have done and the repercussions and consequences of their actions. You can't destroy the Constitution and replace it with socialistic tyranny and not have severe consequences.

Now, regarding Bush, we have ample proof of how HE screwed the American people. Regarding his approval of torture techniques, it proves he has no morals. Yes. Look at the economy, dumbass. Take a good look at the Dow industrial average since Obama took office. Are we headed toward a great depression like we were when numbnuts was in office? No. Proof in the pudding. The economy is getting stronger. The guys on Wall Street are having a banner year. My Apple stock alone has gone from $114 (low) to $224 (high).
Jobs lag behind. You know why? Your precious banks are still refusing to create commercial paper or even small business loans, despite the fact that they've received a shitload of our money.
Get your head out of your ass. Your guy failed - terribly. Our guy is actually doing something for someone other than his wealthy friends.
So. Once again. I'll post Madalyn's statement since no one seems to want to answer it:

The stock market is up considerably over the last year. Considerably. 20% of anyone you don't like taking office for a few months means nothing. It's a red herring. An avoidance of answering the question I posed or any question that requires actual facts.
The simple truth is the stimulus bill - much as you might hate it - prevented a much bigger disaster. Even Bush knew the consequences of that before he left office. Too bad he didn't have the interest in actually following up as to where the money went.
Still in all, nobody can manage to give me anything of truth - only their hollow, hate-filled opinion on Obama, a man who will be responsible for your children being covered under EVERY circumstance and you not having to worry about going bankrupt or being priced out of healthcare.
But, of course, for people who hate someone and don't have the clarity of their own mind to acknowledge the REAL reasons they do -- well, you'all are a lost cause.
Hate him? That's your option - but it ain't a fact. Someday you people might learn what a fact is and stop believing the lies your talk show Gods tell you.
And, by the way, the world didn't shatter today - and it won't. Stop being so scared of everything.
