It's one thing to catch it from conservative critics, it's quite another to catch it from one of the most liberal, far left Jewish organizations out there:
Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, issued the following statement:
We are shocked and stunned at the Administration's tone and public dressing down of Israel on the issue of future building in Jerusalem. We cannot remember an instance when such harsh language was directed at a friend and ally of the United States. One can only wonder how far the U.S. is prepared to go in distancing itself from Israel in order to placate the Palestinians in the hope they see it is in their interest to return to the negotiating table.
It is especially troubling that this harsh statement came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly and privately explained to Vice President Biden the bureaucratic nature in making the announcement of proposed new building in Jerusalem, and Biden accepted the prime minister's apology for it. Therefore, to raise the issue again in this way is a gross overreaction to a point of policy difference among friends.
The Administration should have confidence and trust in Israel whose tireless pursuit for peace is repeatedly rebuffed by the Palestinians and whose interests remain in line with the United States.
Is it incompetence?
Or is it something else?

Nailed it in one. Actually the Israelis were against Obama from the start. They were possibly the only one of our allies to see him for what he was. Unfortunately, the American Jewish population is too caught up in their socialist dreams to realize that Barry is the anti-semite that he is. I guess they didn't pay attention to the fact that he sat at the feet of a virulent anti-Semitic pastor for 20 years. Or that he had surrounded himself with foreign policy advisers who all took the line that Israel was an apartheid state and had the contra-historical belief that Israel had stolen the land from the Palestinians.

Most incompetent administration, EVER.
They constantly insult and denigrate long standing allies. They make friendly overtures to what can at best be described as governments that do not have our best interests at heart and seem insulted when the previously friendly governments take actions that their opponents dislike.
When did the Israelis not see this coming? I rather think that they were planning this all along just to see what kind of reaction it would provoke just as a demonstration to the world where our current (P)residents loyalties lie.
Yes, it was obvious to those that looked into 'The Won's' past prior to his election but others that did not want to see now have no choice but to admit that the truth is this administration's loyalties lie with the enemies of Israel.
